Just an absolutely terrible gym. The GM, Dzhennifer Atayan, is rude and incompetent. Other locations of NYSC said they hear awful things about her and the E 41st location all of the time. I would encourage everyone to stay as far away from this gym and Dzhennifer. She is one of the worst human beings I’ve ever made the effort of doing business with.

After being accosted by the GM, Jennifer, over a misunderstanding and lack of communication (on her and her staff's behalf). And then being threatened that she would have "cancelled my membership but was "talked down" by other staff members," I promptly cancelled my membership.NYSC...love you guys. I've been a member for years but this was beyond a level of unprofessionalism and passive aggressiveness I've ever experienced.

I really wanted to like this gym till i came in last friday to work out with a friend (which is along time member as well ) i usually train alone and never need any help . We go in togther to the gym but we dont workout togther just talking or working out at the same spot .While i was doing leg extension and my friend was on the side doing his own workout he got stopped by Wayne Richard (the headquarter and one of the managers ) that accused us for training togther and making profit (basically he claimed that my friend is a PT and training me )he wasnt even willing to listen to what i have to say and wave me with his hand , and with no reason or prove basically he suggested that we need to leave . I got approached in the other hand by another rude manger claiming that everyone complaining about me..which offcourse was a lie since im already in shape and member of this gym for years and only been in this gym for few times . This comment was insulting and not in place at all . We were being forced to leave the gym basically by the unprofessional Gym managers team just because we are in shape .My husband was trying to call in and offcourse we could not reach him or anyone else to solve the matter and there is no one above him to solve any issue .Alegal action is in place now .PLEASE AVOID THIS GYM AT ANY COST.

Considering that your 23rd St club doesn't have hot water for at least a week, I called to check if your steam room is working. But the guy who answered the phone couldn't be bothered to find someone to check to see if the ladies' steam room is working.

Cardio machines are ALWAYS broken. I have called this location twice to cancel my membership after they increased the cost by $20/month. The woman on the phone said she would cancel it and then didn’t so I continued to be charged. When I called them to inform them of the mistake they said there was nothing they could do about the charge but they claimed to cancel it…I guess we’ll see.

633 E 41st Street location going downhill again...UPDATE Apr 19, 2022Have been at Blink across the street for 2 weeks now. What a difference!Better hours. Spotlessly clean. No chewing gum on the carpet. No chips on the steps. Modern equipment and not a relic from the 70s. Weights are always racked. No one drops/throws them on the floor. Members are polite with each other. You scan yourself in. No need for an employee to do it. No commercials embedded into the music. The front desk is well lit, the attendant welcomes you by name, and isn't hiding in the dark behind a hoodie. Have already run into several former NYSC refugees who are now at Blink. Importantly, Blink apparently pays its employees well because they are there promptly every weekday morning at 5a, happy to be alive, very knowledgeable about Blink and its innerworkings, and a pleasure to be around. Happy employees = happy members.UPDATE Apr 1, 2022The RM (formerly the GM), Jennifer Atayan, just cancelled my membership! Shades of China/Russia? Kinda like Amazon firing workers who fight for better pay, benefits and working conditions. This woman has done this to others, as well. Read the reviews. This is the way she responds to members who voice concerns, even offer ideas for improvement. Can't solve the problems? Just kill the messengers. Jennifer Atayan is way more than rude and passive-aggressive as other reviewers have called her. She's hardened, difficult and soulless -- a very poor reflection on NYSC, which already has its share of image problems. Think, during the pandemic, charging consumers membership dues for services not being offered; failing to issue credits as promised; imposing unlawful fees and advance notice requirements on cancellation requests; misleading consumers about their rights to cancel their memberships; and refusing to honor cancellation requests.UPDATE Mar 31, 2022NO-SHOW THIS MORNING 6aHere we go again. No NYSC employee was there to open the gym at 6a this morning. This is not the first time. It happens often. There were 15+ members waiting by the time an NYSC woman finally showed up at 620a. A couple members couldn't wait and left. The young man at the desk in the building said the double doors from the lobby to the gym entrance were locked. Yet he also said that a man went into the gym at 545a. So he must have gone through those doors. And the NYSC woman who eventually showed up at 620a also went in through those double doors. Is there no alert system for a situation like this? Members are totally helpless. There is no one to call. The people at the building desk have no clue and no power and are misinformed. Who is at the helm? Clearly, there is always going to be a problem finding someone reliable to open the gym each morning at 6a. Always. So why not provide a # on the revolving door that members can call for help in an emergency? Or authorize the people at the building desk to let members in after 605a. Rather than just continually tick off the members. This is the NYSC culture. Since 1973...Nothing ever changes. They operate from the top down. No one is responsive, or responsible. What you're left with are the low-level employees who know nothing and don't care. Why put the burden on them? And don't dare say anything or they will say you're a problem and threaten to cancel your membership.

I knew that after reopening from Covid, NYSC got rid of towel service. As I prepared to come back to the gym for the first time in a while, I checked the websites to see if towels returned. No info anywhere. I then emailed their helpline where the rep told me “yes they should have towels. All the city locations have towels now.” Great! I didn’t have a towel with me and had a show after my workout so this was necessary. I finished my workout and asked for one at the desk like the rep told me. And: NO TOWELS. Despite my due diligence the rep fed me false info. With no other choice I took a shower and dried myself with a bunch of paper towels from the dispenser, and a hairdryer, which took forever. Why is this what I’m paying for? Why can’t employees find out correct information before answering a question? Why isn’t the info online in the first place? I’ve had so many horrible experiences with NYSC it hard to count them at this point. Was hoping “new management” would fix that, but then here I am rubbing paper towels all over my body in the locker room!EDIT: I emailed the "heretohelp" email address mentioned in the response below. I have still not received any response.

Their post-lock down return to business has proven to be positive generally. Professional staff, clean locker room and shower areas, and a nice touch to the recent (but minor) interior renovation. Missing, however, is the tower service that used to be part of the membership, making it difficult to make unplanned visits to the gym (no towels means no shower after workout - yuck!)

The new management after the COVID is as bad the old if not worse. I went to check the location "under the new management" and they immediately showered me with promotion - Only $5 activation fee, first month is free and the next payments only $54. No one checked my vaccination card, no one was wearing mask which I was not too comfortable but decided to think about it before going in. They quickly found my old membership and charged the activation fee of $5 immediately. A week later there is a annual fee charge of $74 and when I reached out to the management the answer was it their annual fee. Meanwhile i haven't used the location since March 2020 and didn't sign any agreements with them. This location had issues by charging a membership fee after March 2020 and i had to deal for months with them to stop the charge. And here i got caught on their scam again... Please stay away from this location not only it is gross but the management is unprofessional and will do anything to get your active card on file.
