The Northwest Family YMCA in Rochester, NY, offers a wide range of activities and programs for individuals and families. The facility is well-kept, with clean equipment and friendly staff, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Many members find the staff extremely helpful and the environment inviting, especially for children. The two pools, including one for kids, are a highlight, along with an excellent child watch service and a variety of fitness classes. It's ok. It's a good, clean facility and the staff seem friendly enough. It's definitely a comfortable place with plenty of activities. I was a member a while ago.I have two major complaints. First, the price. It's WAY too expensive. Second, the hours. It closes around 10 on most weekdays, and even earlier on the weekends. This is a time when a lot of people like to go to the gym. Look at other places and you'll see a lot of activity in the later evening. Also, the pool would often be closed unannounced, and it would happen often - about a quarter of the time. We'd get all the way there and find out it was closed.

I love the preschool staff! The child watch staff is always very friendly and my two toddlers enjoy their time in there when I'm exercising. The toddler swim instructors are very enthusiastic and inviting. The front desk is always friendly. The majority of the people visiting the Y are very kind also. I have had some nice conversations with some of the seniors in the locker room. Very friendly atmosphere.

I went here today. First time in a gym EVER! Anneke was very helpful, and super polite. She gave me a lot of information on ways to make the membership more affordable. She really deserves a raise, she is super friendly & you can just tell she really loves what she does! Made me feel super welcome, and I'm someone who struggles with anxiety so it really helped me. I would recommend this gym everything was super clean. The pool wasn't crowded there was 2 pools one that had lanes, and was deeper, 12 foot is the deepest. The other pool is for children as it's more shallow. The hot tub was really nice it was big, hot and soothed my aching muscles after working out. The jets weren't super powerful, but just right. I will be going again soon!

Very disappointed with the customer service. My friend has been trying to renew his membership which he was not informed was ending. He has turned in paperwork two separate times and both times the paperwork has been “lost.” They claim there is no record of his information in the system when he has been a member for 3 years. It has been over 5 weeks now and he still has not had his membership renewed.

The staff are wonderful. The place is bright with a lot of machines to choose from. Locker rooms are large and also bright. Two pools are usually, relatively warm, so there isn't that big shock when you get in. I've paid less to go elsewhere, but the Northwest Y is by far the best overall.

I have been attending this YMCA for over 18 years. It has been my retreat, my respite. The facility and the equipment are clean and modern and the personnel are, for the most part, very friendly and professional and so are the members. I wish the 25 yard pool had a more ample, flexible lap swim schedule. If you blink, you miss your chance. There are always two water water walking lanes, why can't they convert one of them to a lap swim lane at the busiest times? IDK. That's the reason why I rated this great facility a 4, not 5.
