Although many improvements have been made, maintenance remains an issue. The steam room is still not working. The jaquzi is often broken as well. On a positive note the front desk staff are great!

I dislike the payment system here. I only wanted to be a member for two months. When I went to end my membership, I was informed I had to pay for a whole year, and had no choice. It was a good gym other than stealing ten months with of payments from me

Steam room is always busted. Seems like it's been busted for months. I can run on the street. I can lift weights at home. I pay for a gym so I have access to a steam room. This gym doesn't care about timely maintenance on their steam rooms. They only care about collecting my fee to not use a steam room. It's always "it'll be fixed in two weeks." And then it's, "oh there was a problem so it'll be another three days." Meanwhile, I am paying for a service I do not receive. Sigh.

Management/staff are not responsive to member input, they follow their own agenda and disregard safety and proper fit, especially on their weight machine apparatus. Their club weight machine upgrades/removals are not researched before they are installed/removed. Club dues are also raised without warning. Some of the lockers in the locker rooms are unusable due to the locks not being set right, and the shower stalls are not kept clean.

Great customer service by Hailey! She's doing an awesome job. Shes quick on her feet and meets my needs before I even ask. I hope you consider her when raises or promotions are coming up. Great job by her and the entire Cal Fit staff!

I use the gym on Alhambra. There's some nice new equipment, but the gym is small and often frustratingly busy. Difficult to get a turn at the one and only squat rack, with pressure from others waiting to rush through your sets.

This facility is very clean and compact, but has everything you could want in a health club. Free parking in midtown Sacramento, free coffee, tea, and towel service. The staff are also very helpful and don't try to sell you things you don't need. The locker rooms are very spacious and have sitting areas and tv's and an area for stretching or light workouts.

tl;dr -- decent location, bad parking and customer serviceOverall, this place isn't bad, but it's not great. I enjoyed the sauna and the good cardio machines, but wouldn't recommend the experience overall. They've got a "house always wins" attitude when it comes to customer service, but I quit because I didn't love it enough to use it more than occasionally.Cardio equipment is in decent condition, though they're in high demand, so I usually end up with one stuck in a corner of mirrors (no TV). The wi-fi is okay, and I end up listening to audiobooks and podcasts, but if you're visually-oriented, it might be tough getting a good one.The original brickwork of the classroom and pool and sauna areas are charming. The men's locker area is fairly updated and works for me, though there are some lighting issues in the toilet room. Big TV and couches, though don't know when I've ever used those.Parking has always been a chore here, but recently it turned over to the City and now if you have a problem you get to deal with them.Guest passes for visiting family is expensive to impossible. We ended up getting them their own membership, which was a big pain to cancel when they left after a month. Also, there was a mandatory price increase, so the price on the contract you sign should be considered a "base price" on top of which they can add anything they want.Cancelling my membership lost me $53. I had been a member for 2 years, so I was paying month-to-month after the original 1-year contract. I foolishly paid the last month up front -- don't do this; wait for a "deal" -- meaning I had a useless membership for 2 months after quitting. When I asked for a prorated refund I was told condescendingly "If I refunded you, I would have to refund everybody, and that's no way to run a business."

A bit crowded some days. If you're a swimmer good luck finding a lane as they are usually almost always taken. If you would like to play basketball you are really only limited to times when the room is not being used. Yet the staff is very friendly and it is still an all around good gym.

This place could be great if the machines were not always out of service. Take some advice from national chains such as LA fitness and update your equipment to increase safety and reliability. I would not currently recommend this gym.
