Notorious for charging customers money. It happens not only to me but also to many of Bostonians people I know. I cancelled the gym a long time ago and found out that the gym kept charging numerous ( it accumulated to more than half thousand) amount without me knowing. I had to call my bank to get them unauthorized/blocked. I had to dispute the charges through my bank, because the gym wouldn't resolve it without me putting down my bank card (and of course I refused give bsc my bank info again, won't fall in the same trap twice). I was just chatting with friends and surprisingly some have exact same experience! Hope Boston has authority or Customer Service department to stop their continuous scam! ( So that less people will get hurt from the scheme)

TSI/BSC handled closing due to Covid terribly, and I remain unimpressed with their reopening. They claimed that all members got emails about the reopening plan, credits due from the closing, and future billing, both from the Davis branch and from TSI. I didn't receive any of that communication, and was still awaiting word on what their plan was. Much to my surprise, I have a pending charge from BSC for my September dues, most of which had been "covered" by the credit I should have received from their closing in March. Despite there still being a global pandemic, they haven't updated their cancellation policy of needing to cancel in person or write a certified letter that then takes 45 days to process.TSI continues to show how little they care about customers or working with you when they are in error.EDIT: For what it's worth - apparently the reason I didn't receive any emails was because I had opted out of marketing emails months ago. Which is honestly just such a poor implementation, that if you opt out of marketing emails you don't receive any other informational emails ever. When I was on the phone with a rep from the gym initially, I was assured I wouldn't have any additional fees upon cancellation and that it would just be zeroed out. A minute after walking out of the gym having cancelled, I get a receipt for a $10 cancellation charge. TSI/BSC is truly the worst company I've interacted with in the duration of Covid.EDIT 2: Unsurprisingly, following up via email got me nowhere and was just routed back to the people I had spoken to in the first place. The real kicker is I cancelled my membership on the 25th/26th... and then got charged for the month of October 5 days later. Class act BSC.EDIT 3: THEY JUST FREAKING CHARGED ME AGAIN ON A RANDOM DATE, A MONTH AFTER I CANCELLED. Maybe a lawsuit is what it would take to end this level of incompetence and malicious intent. Infuriating.

BEWARE unauthorized charges if you freeze a personal training subscription. Even if you dont resume personal training they will just start charging you and refuse to refund it. I canceled my normal membership as well since I can't in good conscience support a place doing scummy stuff like this.

WARNING! Don't sign a membership agreement with this duplicitous gym. You must cancel by certified mail or in person with the manager, pay for the next two months dues, and pay a ten dollar cancellation fee. This location has the customer service of a check cashing joint. Try to email or call during a pandemic to cancel your membership while your gym is closed? Shove off.

As everyone came to see clearly during their Covid response, BSC is a scam of a company. After freezing my account during the months that the Davis Square location was closed due to the pandemic, they recently reopened and started charging everyone again, even though my account was frozen. I called them to ask why my account was unfrozen and they said because the location had reopened. Not letting you cancel via the phone, I went in to cancel in person. While waiting for the manager to cancel my membership over a period of about 10 minutes, there were 5-6 people who came into the gym. Each one tried to use the temperature reader attached to the wall, but it didn't work for any of them, however they were eventually waved in, regardless of their temperature. No hand sanitizer anywhere in the lobby or exit. They couldn't keep paper towels stocked in the bathroom pre-pandemic, so I'm sure it's a petrie dish. They're strictly open again to take advantage of their horrible policies, they're not interested in keeping anyone safe. But this isn't surprising from a company that was charging people months into a pandemic, until the state attorney general had to intervene. Got an email this morning that they're filing for bankruptcy. I hope they go out of business and get replaced by a gym that has some semblance of a conscious.

A shady and unethical business. They have been charging me (and many other people) monthly and annual fees totalling well over $100 at a time when the gym has been closed for months. After you've opened a membership, good luck closing it. You cannot close it over the phone, you cannot close it online, you cannot close it via email. No, you have to go in person or send a certified (!) letter. Then they charge you a $10 cancellation fee. Unethical and illegal, but they don't care. The Attorney General is going after BSC for these exact reasons. Buyer beware.

Returning to a gym during a scary idea to me. I then got the courage to check out this club to see what they were doing to keep it COVID safe. The sales guy (Paul) made me feel very comfortable and explained all they were doing to keep their members safe, which was reassuring.Been going here for a few weeks now and haven't had any problems with others wearing a mask. Definitely am happy to see all they are doing to stop the spread in the gym.Staff has also been friendly and helped me adjust to working out during these times.

SHADY and GREEDY. I’ve had memberships with three different fitness center companies, and BSC is the worst experience I’ve ever had. I called and tried to contact them in March to cancel/postpone our membership due to the pandemic, was still charged for April [they were closed]. When the gyms re-opened, I went in person and asked them to cancel our membership. They cancelled mine, but left on my add-on, Marissa, and continued to charge me for Oct, Nov, Dec. I called again today and they refused to refund me the money even though I asked them to cancel it months ago AND we haven’t used their facility since pre-pandemic. We don’t even live in Somerville anymore. I do NOT recommend. Worst experience.

Trust the reviews. This gym seems fine until you actually need to reach out to customer service. I've been a member for nearly a decade and still got the runaround when trying to cancel my membership during a pandemic. Asking people to either physically come to the gym during a pandemic or pay to send certified mail to cancel is insane. There's absolutely no reason for them to accept a cancellation request via physical mail but not email, except for their own predatory practices. They will milk as much money out of you as they can. There is a good reason the state Attorney General had to get involved. Pick another gym, it's not worth it.

Overcrowded and broken machines. Owner uses deceptive policy and billing practices to charge you even when you've canceled months in advance. Avoid the headache and go somewhere else.
