I went to the gym for the summer while I stayed in Alaska. And I loved it. Charles was beyond helpful the entire time I was there and and front desk was always in a good mood. I really appreciate the little things when I go to the gym and being happily greeted at the door was always a plus. Not only is this gym organized but it’s very clean. It seemed like somebody was always cleaning something the entire time I was there. Strongly recommend.

The facilities themselves are great, but not the reason of my rating. Their contracts are predatory, not allowing you to cancel if you can still get to the gym within 40 miles (could have been a higher number, not 100% sure but it was at least 40) meaning they expect you to pay a minimum of 80 a month even if you cannot reasonably get to one of their locations daily.Secondly, when I signed up there was a "promotion" going to the effect of "free" upgrade to their premium membership option, and if I remember correctly a free first month, or something to that effect. I had told the recruiter I would not be interested in continuing the premium membership after the trial period had ended and to discontinue my billing of it; they acknowledged this and I thought that was done. However, it was not. I checked my bank account to see I was billed ~$160 instead of the ~$90 and initially when I called to ask for it to be credited, they told me I had to handwrite a note within the trial period indicated my intent to cancel it. After I insisted heavily on a credit due to the recruiter being told this before I had even signed up, they referred to it as a "courtesy credit" when they finally listened to me. I found this rather disrespectful, but was glad I wasn't out the money, at least.Thirdly, a small infraction, but a problem nonetheless. I was told the promotion I had mentioned earlier would be over at the end of the month and I had to sign up right away (it was at the end of the month) to receive the promotion. Not only did the promotion not end that month, I continue to see it almost every single month since then, feel free to look at one of their signs the next time you drive by.. This was a blatant lie the recruiter felt no guilt in telling, and this just left a sour taste in mouth combined with the other problems.Lastly, what sparked me to write this review is during this COVID-19 situation, they initially did not offer options for billing, and essentially told everyone we have to pay full price for a service we have 0 access to, because apparently they thought they were exempt from being affected like everyone else from the shutdowns simply because they already possess our billing information and tried to pitch it like we're being involuntarily charitable (aka stealing money from us).. After what I can only assume was immediate backlash, they retracted that statement and offered 3 payment options.-Billing no longer continues during the down time, and will resume once services return-Get your membershiping+a small percentage more in a pre-paid Visa card-Continue paying as normal and receive a credit to your account instead, effectively making AK Club a debtor to its members(not seeing the email and therefore not selecting any option would still result in them *STEALING* your money, problematic and predatory for the elderly and those without phone/internet)Then afterwards with no indication or email they removed the Visa option, which resulted in my option changing from the discontinue billing, to what I can assume is the credit option, or they just removed my input entirely, because I was billed $80 for the month of March. Of course, I can't get ahold of their customer service line, it will just ring to voicemail infinitely - classic. I reselected the discontinue billing option and I better not see a bill for the month of April... And I also better receive a credit for the month of March at the very least.

Never took the time to explain the payment schedule. No courtesy call or email when CC was denied after charging 2 months in December. Accounting takes a minimum of 2 days to respond to emails and never answers the phone. Conflicting information Everytime I go in to speak with someone. Refuse to honor the 90 comfort guarantee as printed in the contract. Then I asked to change my membership and was sent a blank contract to fill out myself. I'm just blown away by the audacity of management to let their employees behave this way. Charles and Thad should be running this place.

I have been going to this gym for a little over 1 year now. I would like to say they currently have such a friendly staff in all areas, childcare included. The gym is always clean and stocked with towels. Recently, there was an event that happened, details not needed. But let me say how professional Cherie, the operations manager was! I have rarely encountered such professionalism in handling a difficult issue. I continue to be happy with the services I receive at this facility and would recommend it to anyone who asks.

I had the misfortune of using a towel from the "clean" bin that happened to have poop on it. After informing the managerial staff, I was told that it was "determined 1. The towel is clean 2. The discoloration you interpreted as poop was nothing more than a stain which resulted from previous use of this towel." Dear world. I have white towels. They get stains. But if it looks like poop, and smells like poop, it's poop. Still waiting for a better response. Managerial staff at West 0/5 stars.

Nice gym but all the gyms are freezing I dont understand why you would have a cold gym and not a hot one. I go to the gym to sweat not catch hypothermia while I'm sweating .

Clean bathroom and I would like to recognize a staff with the excellent cleaning provided by Robin Natividad! Keep up the good work. An asset to the company for making sure, the place is safely clean. Robin is approachable and courteous.

Equipment is much better at this location than others. Staff and cleanliness is hit or miss. Charles is great!

Way too expensive for what you get. They are very sneaky about making you pay more money. Inconsistent rules on cancelling membership between sales associates. They are just after your money. I will never be a member again
