About 20% of the equipment is in what I would call 'useable, but not functioning properly' condition. For example, two exercise bikes click loudly while being peddled. You can do cardio on them, but they will make an annoyingly loud sound and stick at certain points providing uneven resistance throughout each revolution.Staff is not receptive to these complaints. I'm not sure they even report the malfunctioning equipment. For the price, there are other gyms with functioning equipment, better hours and better amenities. The only thing Gold's has in its favor, is the abundance of locations across Austin. This convenience is lost however if the equipment I have paid to use is in a constant state of disrepair.

This particular location, Anderson Arbor, is what my review is based on.The staff is pleasant, childcare area and care is great, and generally speaking the gym is clean throughout. However, if I didn't receive a gym membership discount here through my husband's work, I'd personally go elsewhere.Equipment: There's 4 stairclimbers total here. On any given day 1 stairclimber will be working, 2 if you're lucky! Half of the spin bikes are also broken and cannot be used during class (literally almost half).Classes: They run the same class multiple times a day like Body Pump and run another class once a week on one day at 5:30 AM like Body Combat. They only offer CX only twice a week. The variety is slim especially when it comes to spin - pretty much 1 instructor every single day. While she is AWESOME it would be ideal to have more than 1 teacher for every single class to offer a range of options to clients. The biggest flaw about this place is their busted up equipment, makes me think they are cheap.

I wish people don't have to go through "Glen" for any of their concerns at this gym. The guy has absolutely no customer service skills and I believe he doesn't have knowledge about gym's policies as well. I had a lost credit card and they tried to charge me decline fee. I requested to have it waived as the bank was not ready to provide any documentation. He would not even help and say that cannot be done in any way. The online customer service team helped me waive that and they explained its once in a year chance that can be waived. poor service. Rest of the people who work here are nice and helpful.

BEWARE OF MISLEADING INFORMATION!!!I have had a Legacy (family plan) Gold's gym membership for years. I used to be able to add and remove people from my account and pay $88 per month. Around Sept. 2018, I was wanting to remove two people and add my friend to my account. I was told they were no longer doing that and my friend had to pay an additional $37 per month. When told that, I decided to remove two people from my account so that my monthly payment would go down since there were no benefits of having a family plan. I was told by Joana that my payment would go back down. It is now Nov 2018 and I'm now getting charged $125 per month, $88 for my (family plan) and $37 for my friend I added. When i asked about it, they mentioned one of the persons had not been removed and asked if I had a copy of the signed cancellation request. Lucky for me, I did. Once I found it, I drove back and spoke to Glen the assistance GM who brushed me off earlier and asked to bring the signed form. After reviewing the documents, he tells me that because I have a family plan, removing the person would only free up a slot and would not reduce my monthly payments which is the complete opposite of what they told me at the beginning. When questioned further, Glen ( the assistant GM) said I was being rude and could not assist me further. This gym is doing something fishy and their assistant GM, Glen, is incapable of handling basic customer concerns such as billing issues. I've attached a cancellation request that was done 9/9/18 and that person is still on my account as of 11/18/2018. BEWARE!!!!!!

Be aware of their NO contract CONTRACT! This has been the worse experience I have ever had with any gym in my life! They just keep billing me even though I have jumped through every hoop and done everything they have said to cancel my membership. They are now charging a monthly fee of $20 plus the membership fee of $43.29. I have been trying to cancel since the Government shutdown in January. I told them then that I had no income, and could not afford a membership. They won't let you cancel online. They wont let you cancel over the phone. I was told I had to send a letter to the corporate office. That also didn't work. When I went into the gym I was told the manager was not available, but they had me fill out a cancelation form which they would give to him. Between their "fees" and the memberships I have not used since January they have billed me $233 which I just don't have. Stay away from GOLD'S gym and the no contract contract! BE AWARE!

It is one of the newer ones and much cleaner and sparkly. They have high ceilings and ample amount of equipments. The pool is nice as well. Lots of space for activities. It usually seems crowded on peak days but not too bad.
