Gold's Gym Austin Highland offers a full range of equipment and fitness classes at a convenient location. The gym is always clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It operates from early morning to late evening, providing flexibility for various schedules. Although the gym has many amenities, including a sauna and dedicated cardio areas, it suffers from significant overcrowding due to the closure of other nearby gyms.
This leads to long waits for equipment and compromised workout experiences. While the gym staff and personal trainers receive high praise, customer service regarding membership issues and facility maintenance could be improved.

My personal trainer, Buddy C., is awesome! He knows his his stuff, keeps me moving and keeps my workouts fresh and new. Buddy you rock! thank you for keeping me motivated! The facility is great, bathrooms clean and the team has been great. I see a lot of reviews about staff being rude, I hven't experienced that at all. Suppose they caught someone on a bad day. Good place to work out. Ask for Buddy!

Really poor. They closed not one, but two gyms in north austin, so a lot of those folks ended up flooding to this gym. It was really hard to get on any machines. Maybe at lunch time if I was lucky I could get on what I wanted.I also just moved, and asked the front desk how to cancel my membership. They told me to send an email a week or so before I want to stop going, and that's it. Well, that's not true. They will still charge you for another billing cycle after you cancel. I emailed them to tell them I was told misinformation. Their response was that, "we cannot verify your verbal conversation", and that I should have read the paper contract that I was given years before. Additionally they charged me $30 when I changed my credit card earlier and forgot to tell them. They have really poor customer service, and they lost my business when I return to Austin.

This gym is terrible. Insanely crowded from shutting down other two locations, and the AC has been busted for months. Every year it’s same sad story, it broke and will take weeks to fix. You know summer is coming so do something about it. It’s literally like a sauna.

This Gold's is the closest to my home...but I prefer to drive further to other locations to workout. I generally workout M-F between 9a - 12p. I've tried various times in that time frame...all are busy. I THINK the sweet spot is like 10:45a - 11:30a. There is not directly anything wrong with this location, at all. I think it has a great layout and flow, a little crowded as others have said. I think that is perhaps due to them trying to have enough equipment for people. Also, why do people not re-rack their weights? I'm not interested in moving 200lbs of weights off a machine so I can use the weights for my 5'1" frame. I LOVE the variety of workout areas this gym hosts. It really is a great gym. Mostly I am writing this review in the event someone is looking for a more chill location. It is clean, a good size, decent amount of cardio equipment. Only 4 stars bc they do not have a single elliptical with incline (maybe I am very old school to prefer an elliptical with incline). If it's not a heavy cardio day for me, I will choose this location due to proximity. BUT they seem to ALWAYS be busy. Which is great for the gym...just not ideal if you don't want to wait for machines. I won't even attempt to enter the free-weight area...as the intimidation level is so high and it's alway packed. People like to stand close by, overbearing, while you are working out, urging you to finish up and move along so they can take up the space and look in the mirror. I prefer a more chill vibe in a gym and this gym does not fit that bill, for me, personally. Probably bc I am older. I did visit this location one Saturday, early evening, hoping it wouldn't be as busy...that was the most packed I have ever seen it. They had club music pumping through the sound system, which is a great motivator...it was just too busy for me to workout. If you are looking for hot people and possibly a date..this is a good location to find that.

Machines are fine and maintained. Overcrowding is definitely an issue so go at an off time or find another place. Do we really need two floors of cardio?

They will keep charging you after you cancel. They are predatory and will play dumb. Don’t trust this business. There are other gyms out there that will not take advantage and steal your money. Honoring contracts mean nothing to these people.Golds — as soon as you fix my problem I will remove this review. Until then, I keep this up.

Not my main gym but sometimes I come to this location when it’s convenient. The gym is fine I guess, though management could have designed the layout better. There needs to be more room between equipment. It’s too crowded. My biggest issue with this gym is the other customers. People at this location have the worst gym etiquette in the Austin area. Shame.Edit: thank you for the response. Upon further reflection, perhaps my two complaints are linked. Even just a little bit more space in the weightlifting area would make the lack of etiquette far less of a problem (easier to avoid). I know the crowding is largely downstream of the nearest 2 golds gyms closing in the last year (183 and tech ridge). This is baffling, but I’m sure mngmt had their reasons. I know this puts the highland location in a tight spot. I’ll just avoid this location for now. Good luck.

The employees are great, the equipment is promptly fixed when it breaks, and the locker rooms are usually clean.I just hate how busy this gym is. The size of the gym and the amount of equipment is not proportional to the number of people who go to this gym. It's basically busy the entire time. Unless you go at 10am or after 9pm you can expect to wait +5 minutes for a machine. I've had to wait 15 minutes for a machine because it was my last set, which is absolutely ridiculous and really kills any and all flow you're feeling.
