Gold's Gym Austin Highland offers a full range of equipment and fitness classes at a convenient location. The gym is always clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It operates from early morning to late evening, providing flexibility for various schedules. Although the gym has many amenities, including a sauna and dedicated cardio areas, it suffers from significant overcrowding due to the closure of other nearby gyms.

This leads to long waits for equipment and compromised workout experiences. While the gym staff and personal trainers receive high praise, customer service regarding membership issues and facility maintenance could be improved.

Pros:

  • Convenient location with ample facilities.
  • Friendly and helpful staff.
  • Wide range of fitness equipment.
  • Dedicated cardio areas and fitness classes.
  • Clean and well-maintained facility.
  • Flexible operating hours.
  • Sauna available.
  • Prompt repair of broken equipment.
  • Good customer service from personal trainers.
  • Frequent cleaning and sanitization.

Cons:

  • Severe overcrowding at peak times.
  • Long wait times for equipment.
  • Issues with customer service and membership cancellation.

Okay this place is a 2-3 star spot at best, what type of mainstream gym doesn’t have water bottle filling water fountains, the equipment is starting to wear out and the sanitation is garbage, not even the alcohol wipes, I’ve been to other golds that have these features so I know it’s possible to have this equipment. Considering how many people are here all the time I know they have the money to make these changes but choose not too.Overall me and my lifting buddy are looking at canceling and going to other gyms especially now that 24 is cheaper. Gym wise it’s your normal gym, if you’ve been to vasa/fitness connection/etc, it’s the same thing.it’s a gym but this particular golds leaves a lot to be desired… plus the hours are kinda wack and the equipment is wearing down. If ya can go to another gym but if ya have to this gym will make do

Brian and Rick are superb. Visiting Austin (hometown) from Chicago where I settled down. Signed up for the month I am out here on a work assignment the gym hasn’t changed much but it is the best Golds in Austin IMO. Went undergrad in Austin, worked at Golds part time while in school, trained at Golds. Still the cleanest Golds Gym in Austin with the best trainers and customer service. You can build lasting friendships here and 3 years away from Austin I saw ALOT of old friends. Great atmosphere even at peak times. Only draw back is if you’re claustrophobic this gym is a tight squeeze at peak times.

Gold has lost it's luster. This location continues to decline in services and it's facility. Been a member since 2014 and this is not the first time for me to address my concerns, but however as I have read other reviews all you get in response is a "we hear you" email and yet, no action is ever taken.Workout area- each week you will find more or the same equipment in need of repair, cleaning, or missing parts of it that make it unusable.Men's Locker room- poorly maintained, the a/c has not been working for more than a year, instead large fans are set out to blow the hot air around.Showers- there is visible and smelly mildew in each stall. A simple scrubbing with any good cleaner would help but all you'll see is this area given a mopping and spray down of some disinfectant from staff.Sauna- there has been some attempt for cleaning but never thorough, the benches have mildew and some in need of repair, walls need to be scrubbed as well.Pool and hot tub- closed down during covid, and never re-opened . This was my initial reason for my first complaint as less amenities were offered yet same membership fees were collected.Team- some improvement in greeting guests and not just on phones. After contacting management through email( Manager Perrry offered discount in one response) and speaking directly to them at site about possibly getting discount on membership fees I was surprised that they quickly agreed each time. None were ever followed up on their side. Questioned one team member that told me their system must of had a glitch, and will address again to manager who is hardly available. Never seems to have a glitch on collecting my fees. Currently waiting on an email response from Rick Williams so I can secure my CANCELLATION, even that is a hassle.Hope someone at this Gold's location sees that it's time to shine things up.

Good gym. More praise than complaints for sure. But the men’s showers are starting to feel neglected. Mold and dirt are turning the grout in the tile black. Really needs to be addressed.

It's a perfectly fine gym.My review has to do with their charging system, i have been wrongly charged for 2 months and then i emailed letting Brian know and he told me it was a mistake and that it will be resolved and that I will be refunded. I have not been refunded and I have been charged for a third month. One mistake is fine but twice shows a real problem with the business and how they are handling people's credit card information. Please fix this immediately.

This is a great gym especially for the price. There is all the equipment one needs and a huge area for cardio equipment. This gym gets very busy around 5-8pm on weekdays and then is far less busy on weekends. The staff are friendly and the dressing rooms are well maintained.

So I'm in town for a week. I signed up for a free day pass. I showed up and the man at the counter turned me away! He said I have to show proof of residency in Austin! Total waist of time! This makes no sense. I would leave 0 starts if possible! If your traveling don't waist your time here!!

This gym is great most of the time. Staff is great, equipment is great, and for the most part it’s easy enough to get what need done.It is packed during peak hours, I’d recommend going to another gold’s gym in the area instead. They provide the same service and equipment but it’s literally half capacity at other locations.

What you need to know now that the gym is open again. First and foremost, the gym is very clean and it is clear your safety is the staffs highest concern. For now, the lockers, pool, and sauna are closed. The bathrooms are open. Wearing a mask is not required. The water fountains are closed so bring your own bottle of water. It was fabulous to work out again today and I felt safe and very comfortable! So get your butt back to the gym. 💪 You will be glad you did!

Came in from out of town for the third time. Used my travel pass. This gym is amazing. The staff is very friendly and the gym itself offers so much. Not overly crowded and it is meticulously cleaned by the staff.I was floored when I saw the General managers and the staff cleaning around all of the weights. Making sure everything is put up and asking members if all is good.An amazing team effort and excellent facility.Well done!
