Planet Fitness located at 214 B Southland Mall, Hayward, CA, offers a clean, spacious, and well-organized environment for gym-goers of all levels. The staff is friendly and active, ensuring members receive a warm welcome. Despite being in a basement with no natural lighting, the gym is spacious with a wide variety of equipment. However, issues like poor air circulation, some outdated equipment, and challenges in membership cancellation have been noted.

While mostly great for beginners, with an excellent cost-to-service ratio, peak hours can see significant crowding. Accessibility features such as an elevator and specific amenities for Black Card members add to its appeal, but prospective members should be aware of variable operating hours and occasional customer service issues.

  • Clean and spacious environment
  • Friendly and active staff
  • Wide variety of equipment
  • Affordable membership plans
  • Handicap accessible with elevators
  • Great for beginners
  • Ample parking space
  • Excellent massage chairs and beds
  • Good atmosphere and music

Chill place. If your a true gym rat you can get your workout properly here. Staff is laid back and very welcoming. They do well to keep the facility clean.

I love the equipment, the people working there, and the environment in general is very conducive to having a great time while working out! I actually look forward to going! Very very clean place to!

I feel like it's always crowded. And the crowd meter on the PF app is worthless, it gives absolutely no indication of how many people are there. Going early in the morning may be better since it's so packed in the afternoon.

Rush hour is real, this gym gets very very busy at times BUT if you want to sweat it’s a very good space for it with a lot of people in there. Bathrooms and showers are very clean and the staff is very friendly. It’s in the basement but they have an elevator for anybody who needs it.

Good place for beginners and more advanced alike. The space seems to always be adequate for the crowd. Sure you have some wait times for machines/benches/mats during peak hours but wait is never top long, at least In my experience.A variety of machines and free weights. You won't find any barbell racks only Smith machines if that's a deal breaker for you then this is probably not your best option.Decent ambiance and atmosphere but idc I just go to get my workout in.You can't beat the price. I'm a lowest tier member so I can't comment on the tanning beds and other such things.

I like the facilities and the Black Card benefits. Minus 3 stars for the (mostly) terrible staff. Immature, inexperienced, ineffective, lazy, and rude. I wish more adults worked here. Maybe then the rules created to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for members would be enforced.I'm currently training for a physique competition and this location is walking distance from home. Once I'm out of prep I'll either drive to Fremont, or switch back to City Sport Club.

Love, Love, Love my gym!! The staff is friendly and they keep the gym nice and clean, which I appreciate GREATLY!! I never have an issue with parking or accessing the equipment I want to use. It's been great so far and I'm seeing and feeling the results of my hard work. Not to mention the amazing massage chairs/bed I get to enjoy at the end of my daily workouts. ❤🙌🏽❤🙌🏽

It Was…a great place to get my workout in. Until they took equipment away. Most of the time, equipment was always available. I’m mean, I never really had to wait for a machine. But now, it’s not the same. They went from 6 cable machines to 4. I don’t like it. They need to bring it back the way it was. It was just right. I’ve been going to this gym for about 3 years now. Never had an issue till now. Now I am considering changing gyms. Don’t waste your time going here if you are trying to lift.Put it back the way it was please! Thank you!

The gym is located in the basement of the Southland Mall. At first glance it doesn't look very big, but as you enter and go downstairs, you realize that it's quite spacious. It had a machine for every type of exercise that I normally do and the music was perfect. The staff were also pleasant, s/o to the birthday girl! My only drawbacks about this place is (both related to basement scenarios) there's no natural lighting so some areas are darker than preferred, and the air could be circulated better to give it a fresher smell. All in all a great experience and I'll most likely be back again.
