The Portage location is the BEST planet fitness I've ever been to. The gym area, locker room, and bathroom are always really clean. And the customer service is amazing! The workers at the front desk are always super friendly and helpful. Everyone in the Kalamazoo area should go to the Portage location!

My wife and I visit here pretty often and due to her black card we're not limited to just one planet fitness. We live closer to the Stadium Drive location, but I personally prefer this location over any others. Staff is friendly, gym is very cleaned and usually they're not swamped with gym goers.

I love how I can tailor a workout that is just for me with the certified personal trainer and take unlimited classes with the Black Pass. I have previous injuries I am working with so it is important to me to get the right advice and to work on "problem areas" in just the right way. It is really worth it to pay the little bit extra to get the "extras." I also enjoy using the Total Body Enhancement, Tanning, chair and Hydro Massages. I get discounts on some purchases in store and online as well, and I can work out at a Planet Fitness location wherever I am in the U.S. just like I would at the one I usually go to.The place is always very clean, and I feel like I know the staff well and they are very nice and friendly and respectful. The shower area is the ultimate in privacy and even has changing rooms within a few feet away with privacy as well.The other people who go there are at different levels of fitness and some have visible physical issues they are working on and nobody thinks anything of it. I have found people who go there to be welcoming and friendly. It truly is a "judgement free zone"! Honestly, I will not go anywhere else now, not after what I am experiencing so far.

It's very clean and not usually too busy. But the staff could be friendly/better trained in customer service. A lot of times they don't smile as they check you in or as you're leaving. The other day two of the staff were talking to someone who was obviously a feiend, and they just reached an arm out to scan my card. As I left I smiled and said by and got a monotone "have a nice day" with blank expression. But I like the location and facility.

Nice clean facility, not as big as the Stadium location but worth it for the cheap membership. Gets really busy during the week between 5 and 6 but I think most gyms do.

Love this gym. Been coming here for over a year now. Just thought I'd mention that I've noticed a termite or two wandering around. Somebody might wanna get that checked out. I had problems with termites a year ago & they got really bad because it went ignored until they swarmed.

Lots of equipment and amenities for even a basic user. Classes are varied and free, machines are in good repair, equipment is clean and almost always available. I've never walked into gross showers, bathrooms, and locker rooms to date.The atmosphere is non-judgmental - people leave you alone, which I adore.

My husband and I love this location. They have plenty of machines and a good variety. We went at 8:00 PM and it wasn't very busy. Also, it has great lighting which is very important to my husband who is visually impaired. So, I guess if you're visually impaired/legally blind, this is a good gym to go to! Ha!

I joined the gym in portage Michigan, and I ride a motorcycle. I wear a helmet that won't fit in the locker, so I was able to leave it at the desk once or twice before It was obviously reported to a supervisor. Ultimately, the guy tells me I can't carry it with because of trip hazards, nor behind the desk because of liability, and to lock it to the motorcycle or leave it unattended in the locker room. I was very surprised the portage Michigan location does not accommodate motorcyclist

Joined in Feb-2016. $19.99 per month for access to all the "extras". They are only supposed to take out "ANNUAL" fees once a year. So far, they've taken out that fee of $39.99 twice in 4 months. How is that an "ANNUAL" fee? By the time you pay the monthly amount plus those fees, you end up paying about $350 a year. I've seen A LOT of bad reviews and now I wish I would've read them before I joined. One common theme I see is rude employees behind the counter and when you ask to speak to a manager, they "aren't available". If you want to stop going there, they will make it miserable for you. The best advice I have is notify your bank to stop unauthorized charges from Planet Fitness, start up a new account, even though it's a pain in the rear, take your money and invest it in a REAL gym.
