New York Sports Club (NYSC) on 76th Street is a large gym facility spread across four floors, offering extensive cardio and weightlifting options. The location is convenient for residents and workers on the Upper East Side. The gym's friendly staff, particularly Denise, and comprehensive class offerings including pilates and HIIT, make it appealing to many. Unfortunately, its operational issues, such as maintenance delays and cleanliness concerns, have led to mixed reviews among members.

Despite the presence of various updated equipment and affordable membership plans, members have raised significant concerns about broken machines, limited towel availability, and unplanned closures. Customer service has been inconsistent, with some staff praised for their helpfulness while others are described as rude. These drawbacks have resulted in a divided customer experience that potential members should consider.

Pros:

  • Convenient UES location.
  • Friendly and helpful staff.
  • Four floors of equipment.
  • Variety of classes.
  • Clean locker rooms and sauna.
  • Affordable membership plans.
  • Updated treadmills and rowing machines.
  • Never too crowded in the mornings.
  • Good deals for hospital staff nearby.

Cons:

  • Frequent equipment breakdowns.
  • Limited towel availability.
  • Inconsistent customer service.

a large gym with several floors and real weights. It isnt perfect but you can get an excellent workout and thats all that matters.

Poor management. It’s very unprofessional to vacuum the gym in the middle of the day when paying customers are working out. First of all, it’s loud and obnoxious. Second, staff should be dedicated to customer service during this time. I can’t think of a single business that could justify vacuuming during operating hours. Shouldn’t cleaning be done in the morning BEFORE the gym opens?

I have been a members for years . They kick me out telling me that my credit card did not work supposedly. They had a new system for billing called abc . Anyway I talked to Johnathan the manager ( and all the front staffs) they told me no problem I should sign again for a new membership and we will honor the same price . I did and when I received my Amex statement the membership fee doubled . I called that being dishonest , how is it possible that this guy ( the manager ) was lying to me ? Plus his attitude was disgusting !I cancelled everything . I am not too disappointed since this gym was dirty to start and when you face such issues the only thing you have to do is GoodbyeI Do NOT recommend this place . There are so many choices in Manhattan !!!!

BASIC. There is a ton of space in this gym, but don’t have enough equipment. The equipment sucks. The environment is super sad and depressing. Get it together NYSC. Feels like a basic planet fitness gym. 🙄 I live across the street from this gym but have to walk all the way to 91st NYSC because they have more equipment and better vibes. NYSC ON 76th ST PLEASE DO BETTER!!!!!!!

there are a couple female front desk attendants that need to learn how to speak to people in a more polite manner. their communication style is jarring to say the least.its a good cheap gym and closeby, but if you want to be treated right you need to spend the money for equinox.also some of the cardio machines are wobbly and imbalanced.

I got on a treadmill today and it was severely stuttering, making me trip and almost fall multiple times before the belt could stop. I've had issues with other treadmills as well not working properly.I alerted the front desk and I got a terrible attitude from a young man and woman saying they're "busy". I go here everyday, they sit around looking at their phones. You have a piece of equipment that is dangerous and could easily result in a lawsuit and this is what I get. Yep I'm done, different gym it is.

The front desk lady is very rude and not helpful. She took my phone, canceled my membership overall and could not locate my record in their system. To be honest, she did not even try. Very bad first impression of the place

Maybe a touch better than Crunch but inferior. I live in New York City, my whole life I am been to many gyms never before—Did I have to fill out a waiver to talk to somebody about membership to view the club— no one answers the phone— many years ago I was a member here and it went downhill and then I joined New York health and racquetfamily-owned and wonderful—10 notches above New York sports. Unfortunately many clubs did not reopen after the pandemic— particularly loved the one on York and 76th— I’d rather work out at home then go to NYSC— or it would make better sense to go to real budget gym like planet, fitness or blink at least there I’m not paying for poor management and inferior accommodations— will join an equinox while more expensive, They certainly put New York sports to shame

everything is always broken, the layout on some floors don't make sense; towels, wipes, etc out of stock a lot :/ they def don't upkeep this location like others -the machines i clean prior to use always have a lot of gunk on them. :/ has potential to be a hidden gem, but..
