New York Sports Club (NYSC) on 76th Street is a large gym facility spread across four floors, offering extensive cardio and weightlifting options. The location is convenient for residents and workers on the Upper East Side. The gym's friendly staff, particularly Denise, and comprehensive class offerings including pilates and HIIT, make it appealing to many. Unfortunately, its operational issues, such as maintenance delays and cleanliness concerns, have led to mixed reviews among members.
Despite the presence of various updated equipment and affordable membership plans, members have raised significant concerns about broken machines, limited towel availability, and unplanned closures. Customer service has been inconsistent, with some staff praised for their helpfulness while others are described as rude. These drawbacks have resulted in a divided customer experience that potential members should consider.

This is the gym for you who enjoy tidying up weights after lazy guys. If you’re also into rude staff, particularly at front desk in the morning, this is the place to go! I’ve been at this location the last three years just because there’s no better alternatives nearby. They changed all equipment recently, and took at the same time away some of the most used equipment = prepare for long waiting lines if you wanna do bench press or other popular exercises. Maybe a customer satisfaction survey in advance would have been something?

NYSC charged for 2 months while shut down. I blocked them on my credit card and then somehow they charged me again (2 months at the same time so charge was a different amount). Manager then looked me in the eyes and told me they were refunding me but refused to have written confirmation. The only redeeming quality of this place is the people at the front desk are extremely nice. Anyone with responsibility is a lying dog-faced pony soldier.

There was supposed to be a freeze on my account for a full year starting in October. Since then it has been restarted several times and I have been charged several times without my knowledge. When attempting to speak to the manager at the club he is always "unavailable" and never returns phone calls. This includes showing up in person several times. No communication about changing policies or payments.

Friendly staff and good gym for being in the UES for a reasonable price. At times it can be quite packed in the weights area. It might be worth considering moving some of the equipment around as there are certain areas that are rarely used. The third floor in particular. Seems like the space could be used more efficiently.

About a month ago, I was charged for a personal training package that I never used. I canceled this service 10 minutes after the purchase. I have yet to receive my money back. I have been at the office many times and have spoken with the manager and staff. First I was told that it will take two weeks, then they said it would be in my account today or tomorrow and it never was. At the end I had to dispute the charge through my bank, which will take a long time to process.I am a new member and this experience has really ruined my excitement for this gym. I even referred another member to them at the beginning, which I regret now. I told the manager that I will have to write an awful review if they don't refund me, and he seemed to not even care about that. Really disappointed!

Four floors of machines and weights. The front reception is really nice and accommodating. I’m always greeted by name. Gym is mostly clean and it’s not very busy. I never have an issue with access to machines or weights.

I would not recommend this gym to anyone. Truly the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Was incorrectly charged for 3 months straight and the management team including Marvin, did nothing to rectify it. When requesting to cancel, they ignored me for days on end and then charged me for yet ANOTHER MONTH.In addition to the terrible customer service, their equipment is out-dated, and 30% of the machines are usually out of order. With so many options for gyms in NYC and the UES, I would recommend looking far away from this poor excuse for a fitness center.

You get what you pay for. NYSC is a mid-tier health club for mid-tier prices. I like that membership allows you to visit all non-Premier clubs and there are plenty in the city. You get fresh towels and this club is very large over 4 floors with the same equipment as most other clubs. No swimming pool. Unlike their 51st street club, the machines have yet to be renewed, likewise the changing rooms. Remember to bring your own lock for the lockers. In my experience, 90% of the machines are working. The treadmills are not callibrated so the pace of each one is a little random, some easier, some harder than the pace you set. The fourth floor weights room can get crowded. TV service is a bit of a lottery on the machines. They constantly play corporate videos highlighting fantastic front desk staff talking about greeting members by name. This only goes to contrast the reality of someone exuding boredom scanning your membership in silence without making eye contact barely glancing away from their smartphone. I only visit this club at weekends so rarely see any staff other than front desk, janitorial or a trainer or two. Overall, I give it a 3 stars as the facilities are desperately in need of a refresh, and there seems to be a general lack of focus on details and quality customer service which isn't a cost issue.

This gym has nice people working in the Coachs are very knowledgeable, I would give to them 4 stars because some give a little less of the time we pay, however this gym is awful. Every ten machines, only 3 work perfectly. I've been training at this gym for almost two years, unfortunately it's the only one near my house, but it's so frustrating the lack of consideration for us by this administration that what they charge should compensate us for wasting time because even with 8 stairs, and getting 4 sometimes 5 unused we have to wait because nothing works properly or is broken. The spinning bikes are all noisy and some are broken - there is 6, but only 2 works properly! The machines may cause accidents because they have been without maintenance for a long time, at least since I'm here. I already complained about to the administration but they don't care about. I do not recommend this gym at all because there is nothing that has a positive point except personal trainers.

Membership services is incompetent. In September, I called to cancel my membership. They said it was cancelled and I would be responsible for paying an additional month as I had missed the 30 day notice mark. 2 months later I am still being billed. Upon my original cancellation I did not receive a confirmation email for whatever reason (associate did not cancel my membership, tech...). When I called to figure out what was going on and request to have my membership actually cancelled I was told I still have to pay for November and part of December. Horrible customer service.
