This gym NEVER has soap. They also never have paper towels or toilet papers. Like the basic thing that you would think that a decent gym should have but they don’t. It’s seriously disgusting. Imagine members using the bathroom and then can’t wash their hands and then they touch dumbbells and machines. TRASH!

Can someone explain to me why this NYSC does not provide the basics that the other NYSC locations in the city provide?? It’s almost unbelievable that this gym is also a NYSC. They do not provide soap or towels which are basics at all the location… I’ve been to almost all of the gyms in the city and the two uptown gyms ( primarily black and brown areas) are the worst kept gyms and again do not provide towels for the sauna or even soap in the bathroom I didn’t even bother to check the showers I can onlyImagine. The crazy part is these gyms charge the same as the downtown gyms so it feels very discriminatory . I’ve seen other comments about this as-well and it does not seem like the company takes this seriously so I would highly recommend choosing a different gym that treats all their members black brown white equally

No towel service smh why only available in Manhattan gyms below 125th st? Costs us all the same for a passport. Discrimination?

It was difficult for me to find the location originally because the sign is not prominent. I've been in this area for years, and never noticed it.The place is FILTHY. The minute you walk in, it looks kind of like a homeless shelter. The elevator is wonky, and kind of scary. You can't find wipes to clean equipment, and never any soap or tissue in the bathroom. The only good thing is that it's emptier than other gyms, and it's probably because it's so filthy.

Worst gym ever. Impossible to cancel membership and they keep charging your credit card even after you have expressed the need to cancel membership. Never answer phone calls and if they do they tell you the manager will call back (Christine) and she never does. It’s a scam of a gym. Trainers harass and are quite pushy on wanting to train you. They will stalk you to no end. The men who “live “ in the gym harass women too and are extremely loud. Stay away.

Updated 8/19/22:Just wanted to give an update to the "changes” I was told last year would happen. I dare say things have gotten worse. More equipment is broken, rust on equipment and in the showers, still no towels or paper towels now. None of the standard supplies like body wash or hair dryers are provided like at other locations. Still no variety of class offerings at this location. The 125th gym is officially the ugly stepchild of the company. Looking forward to more competition in the area so I can leave.Original:Just rejoined because I missed going to the gym and was hoping they fixed a lot of the past issues.....but everything is the same with the exception that they no longer offer towel service. Broken machines, and lack of variety of classes just to name a few.... One positive is the cleaning is a touch better than before. I'm trying to figure out why I came back to this gym...instead of one of the others? The main difference between this one and the others on 125th is the classes offered. If they don't really offer very many class options, why pay the extra money?? So disappointed

Buyer beware! They took my money and ran!UPDATE: Of course they only reached out to me after I posted a negative review, after weeks and weeks of trying to get an answer. They told me they could reinstate my membership, but I would have to pay for the 3 months that they personally canceled, saying "you have to pay for the membership even if you don't use it." Don't use it? I didn't have the OPPORTUNITY TO USE IT, because I had no membership, which was canceled by NYSC error. It's discouraging that a corporate gym chain would really want to nickel-and-dime a 3-year loyal member for 2 months worth of a "membership" I didn't even have- usage is irrelevant.I'll also point out that in their reply below, they say "follow-up communications are sent"... I never received any follow-up communications. I paid my accidental overdue fees, updated the card on file, attended the gym for a few weeks, and was then told my membership had been canceled and they were "sorry to see me go." I wish I could recommend this gym because I've always loved the facility, but management and customer service here is just embarrassing.ORIGINAL REVIEW:As a certified personal trainer, I was a 4+ day-a-week member before the pandemic, and I've been paying every month for 3 years. After my credit card on file expired, I got an email threatening to "send my account to collections," after just 2 months of payment cycles. Once I knew, of course I went in and updated the card on file, paying anything outstanding in full. Next thing I knew, my membership was canceled, completely without warning, after I already paid in full. The manager Christine told me I'd have to open up a new account, which would be DOUBLE the membership fee I had been paying faithfully for 3 years! She told me she'd "see what she could do." Really? My only option is to open a new account at twice the membership fee? After sending her several follow-up emails, I was continually ignored, which was disheartening and unprofessional.I also emailed the TSI Clubs support email, which also went ignored. I loved the facilities here and really enjoyed my time, but management is severely lacking... I had better customer service in my Planet Fitness years.Buyers, beware... you never know when they could pull your membership out from underneath you as a paying customer.

I moved out of NYC to do my PhD in California the summer of 2019. I made sure to read over the policies and though my year-long commitment was over, I still cancelled a full month before my move. I don’t know if Beyani still works there, but she told me cancellation was no problem and to sign a form. I signed this form and thought everything was all set. After my move, I realized I was still being charged. I contacted NYSC Harlem to clarify the situation. I spoke to manager Dwayne Hunter and he told me there was no record of my cancellation and that per policy the charge was justified and because it was too late to cancel for the next month, my card would be charged again. I protested and he said there’s nothing he can do. If I wanted to cancel, I would have to provide proof of my move to California. I sent him proof. But why did I have to do that? Per the NYSC website, I can cancel my membership at any time without providing such proof after the commitment period. Why should I be charged for someone who’s not competent to do their job? I spoke to Beyani, I did what she asked me to do (sign a form), and she did not take the next step to cancel my membership. Thankfully, my bank understood (I had never asked for a chargeback before this) and issued 2 chargebacks for the 2 charges on my card, as well as blocked any further charges from NYSC as a whole. Lesson learned here: you can’t have good faith in the gym staff here. Take pictures and copies of every form you sign because they will not hesitate to lie to cover up their incompetence.I would also like to comment on an instructor. I took a BodyPump class with Tamara Jackson in summer or early fall of 2018. She was condescending towards me, yelled at me, stopped the class and made someone correct my bench (she should have done that, not interrupted someone else’s workout because she didn’t want to help me). She did not direct this behavior towards others, only me. I was probably her only new student, but that still doesn’t justify singling me out. I had taken BodyPump classes for 2 years before I went to her class. My form was correct, and I was lifting with a weight appropriate for my strength. There was absolutely no reason for her to act in such an unprofessional way. This put me off BodyPump classes and I never took another one again. I’m thinking about reporting her unprofessionalism to BodyPump too. Maybe she had a bad day, but that’s no reason to take it out on others at your job. If an instructor is so mean that it puts off a student who had never had such an experience with 5 different BodyPump instructors before them, then I’m not sure if they’re fit to teach the class.

I love the vibe of the gym, the classes, the gym heads who attend, the sauna and the trainers. HOWEVER. Machines are always broken down, equipment is outdated and beat up, and they're always running out of tissue and sanitary wipes which is why I took away 2 stars.

I was formerly a member of the 106th and 3rd Ave st location prior to the pandemic, which closed down permanently. I naturally went to the next nearest location which is 91st st and 3rd Ave once the gym reopened after NYS uplifted the ban, in September 2020. I was informed that my membership was moved to a further gym location, 125th st, due to this being an elite location. I understood giving the location and likely higher taxes, and with that there is an incredible difference in pricing. Since I was a given 1 year of elite service, I figured that I would cross the bridge of getting my location changed once it ended in September 2021.Just 3 or 4 weeks after, the 125th st location canceled my account without: 1) notifying me 2); me having ever stepped foot in the facility and 3); without my consent. I discovered this after visiting the 91st st location and my badge not scanning. I spoke with the manager, whom I would say was extremely helpful. He signed me up for an elite membership with same price point due to the inconvenience. The 125th St location seems to be poorly managed. I would stay away.
