I can’t rate this place accordingly because I wasn’t let in because I am not an elite member, which I never heard of before. But from the reviews and the 10% I did see before being denied access I feel one star is appropriate. In a city of gyms on every corner you think they would be more inviting for all of its clients rather than getting extra wherever they can/can’t.

In terms of location and equipment, the 91st and 3rd NYSC gym was great. However, I'd be aware of extra fees and the way they treat people who cancel their memberships, as that is very telling!I was overcharged a $99.00 fee after agreeing to a month-to-month membership (which is the annual membership fee, if you cancel). I went to speak with Lance Peer, the contact who had opened up an account for me as that was not the membership I had signed up for. Unfortunately, all I received was denial that we had particularly spoke about my interest for just trying out the gym and not signing an annual contract.Lance mentioned that he'd get back to me later that day to see what he could do. Received nothing (which doesn't speak well to his ability to follow up). The next day I called Jalessa Williams who, figuratively speaking, crossed her arms, shrugged and said there's nothing she can do.It was a very unfortunate experience and I hope it never happens again, but I'd take extra precaution and ask to be mailed/emailed a copy of the contract. I don't recommend this gym simply because the staff couldn't care less.

For the fact that this club is now elite, this club has a large list of problems:1. Water fountain in lobby area has been broken for 2+ months2. Men's locker room cleanliness - Flies in showers all over, mold in toilets, leaks that cause puddles in locker room floors.3. Sauna has door installed upside down, only 2 hot rocks, standing puddles in sauna.4. One of the trainers is allowed to have her baby at front desk distracting half of staff.5. Treadmills - 1/3 - 1/2 of the treadmills don't operate. The ones that do are five different models and are all 10+ years old.6. Shower pressure/temperature is off most of the time7. There never seems to be a general manager or higher level manager on site to address issues.8. OvercrowdingI hope this post helps this club get it together

I have been unable to get in contact with the manager to resolve account issues on my account after multiple attempts over the last few weeks. Business practices are unethical at best; after being charged 20 dollars per visit over the past few months, unknowingly for an "elite" location, the manager is conspicuously unresponsive. I can also corroborate past complaints of the general lack of cleanliness that would be expected of a NYSC as well as the fact that multiple machines have been broken for months. I will be looking into legal action if the account is not resolved. This club needs better management.

I signed up in November 2018 with a sales person at the gym, and was explicitly told that my membership would be month-to-month and that I could cancel at any time with no penalty. This was discussed in detail, because I knew I was leaving the city this summer (6 months later). I asked for a copy of the contract in writing or via email 5 times, but he told me that it's not possible, and that it's "all on the app". Now the summer is here, and I am told that I was sold a one-year commit, with a $100 cancellation fee, and the rep no longer works there. The front desk manager says there is nothing she can do because nothing is in writing, and was overall unmotivated to find any resolution for me. I am livid at the principle of the whole thing, as this is the exact situation I was trying to avoid by asking for some simple membership contracts, which I was denied. In retrospect, this is on me for taking a salesman at his word. I will never step foot in a NYSC again, and will recommend all my friends and family to their competitor. Not to mention the gym is "elite" but all the equipment is outdated, with rust, broken parts, and is often unsafe. They did just put down a nice turf area, the gym's only redeeming quality.

Can some people chill on the reviews. Great value gym, opens at 5am and closes 10pm/11pm during the week so plenty of time to get a workout in. Wide range of classes (and little hassle to get into them) from Yoga, Cycle and TRX. Great pool (which I think is a secret hidden gem for New York) - friendly front staff. You would be on a 5 star - but it does get dirty and things like hygiene wipes run empty. Great work team

I don’t want to share the photos cause it’s disgusting. I don’t think this place has a manager and if something breaks just say goodbye to it but be careful if you don’t have an elite membership cause they will charge you. Sometimes there’s not even water. No a/c No heat. But they still charge $100 to go here. I’m sorry it gets a star, it doesn’t deserves it. UPDATE: this people will never cancel your membership. I really don’t know what else to do, I’ve follow every step and they still won’t cancel it. Called headquarters and they say that only the manager of the club can cancel it, spoke with the manager and he said theres nothing he can do. Had to cancel the credit card for them to stop charging it. And then heard about the lawsuits they have for the same issue. STAY AWAY

There's no way this gym should be one of NYSC "elite" gyms. It's grungy and outdated. And recently, it's hot as a sauna inside, especially in the locker rooms. You'll be sweating before you even start your workout. The only good thing about this gym is that they have a pool - although it would be nice if it was cleaner.

This was one of my favorite locations during the last few months. When certain locations started transitioning over to "Elite" I was told that my membership automatically became elite since my home gym was now Elite...and I assumed it to be true since I was never charged an elite fee up until 2 weeks ago. I was charged $200 and had no idea why. I called & emailed 2 managers @ the 91st club & never got a call or email back. I used the contact us tab on NYSC website twice & got 1 email back. When I responded back almost instantly, I never got a response. Very unprofessional!!!

Update: now the collection company is calling me, saying that I owe money when my account clearly says that I have zero balance remaining. I am planning on talking to the lawyer if they do not resolve this now. Please do yourself a favor and do not sign up for this gym.——Aside from the horrible environment and old equipments, the way they have dealt with my bills and handling my cancellation was very unprofessional. For those who want the shorter version of the story, just scroll down.I was paying for my sister's bill as well as mine. My sister got cancer so I had to cancel her's back in November with the doctor's note. Instead of cancelling, they have frozen my account and charged the cancellation fee AND fee for freezing the account. It took at least three to four months to just cancel my sister's account. Then when they actually canceled, they have canceled mine instead of my sister's so they had to open up a new account. They have charged me so much fees and monthly dues even after that, they had to put credit on my account - which was never applied to my account and I have been paying for everything.I did not get any money back but I had no problem just cancelling at this point.Even cancelling was a long process. The managers were never available to assist. I called and confirmed that the managers are staying at least until 6. I went to two different locations at 3:30 and 4:30. Nobody was there to assist the cancellation and it took almost a week to actually cancel. On the day of cancellation, the manager says that I will need a 45 day notice to cancel so I told them that I would rather use all my credit to pay off whatever 45 days cost and not deal with this anymore. Final words from the manager was I still owe $20.I did not even try to argue, just paid, then left.I am never going to look back.Summary: it took 3-4 months to actually cancel my sister's - who was diagnosed with cancer - account. They have charged me so much hidden fees and monthly dues even after canceling.Did not even get to fully use my credits because I was done with them.It took a week to get the final cancellation due to managers not being at the location.
