My reason for the low score is billing and pricing and customer service. We have always enjoyed our trainers although they have changed 5 times in the last 3 years. This last summer, we finally were able to agree on pricing and paid for 72 sessions. Because their new pricing model was not able to directly accommodate the price, they had to give us 24 session off book as comp sessions with our trainer. (but the trainer was to be paid). When the comp sessions started, the manager said every thing was great. Then we were asked to reup for new session package next year at a 15% increase in price (after negotiating for 3 weeks), we decided to just take time off training for a while. A week after out final decision, our trainer was told he would not be paid for our last 6 sessions. No notice to us from the manager, so we show up for training and the trainer had to tell us. This is no way to operate a business. Customer service is not at the top of their list.

The staff is friendly, the place is clean and there are always plenty of available machines. The downside is that repairs take far too long, some of the padding on the machines needs replacing and there's usually one stall in the ladies bathroom that's out of commission most of the time. That said, my trainer is terrific, the manager is genuinely nice and it's affordable and convenient. If you don't want to pay for extra features like a pool, Texas Family Fitness is the place to work out, get in shape and get healthy.

Gym is nice and clean most of the time which is great. There's also a great community and new management which makes the place feel like family. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to start their fitness journey, plus its only $10 a month. Sabrina is very helpful every time i have any issues, and Moe is a great GM which has helped me out day in and day out.

Honestly the gym itself seems nice but I have never been somewhere with pushier employees. It may have just been the person I was assigned but this borders on harassment.. I came in to tour the gym and just see what the prices would be, that is it. I am already a member of another gym but was considering switching because this gym is larger. For about 1 hour the employee went on and on about how I need to do better with my gym workouts, with my eating, and he even weighed me! I never ever asked for any of this, and these people should know that if a person isn't directly asking for their weight and everything they shouldn't do that, there are people who are quite sensitive about that stuff especially because they write your weight down and then tell you out loud in front of anyone that's around that it's high and you need to lose weight. I even told him it made me uncomfortable and he told me to do it anyway. It took him a good 20 minutes to even get to the tour or the prices! He tried so hard in pressuring me to joining and then paying over $100 extra for a trainer which I also didnt ask for. I'm lucky I am strong willed because others would probably have been guilt tripped into joining. If you've had a pleasant experience with this gym, more power to you, and hey maybe I just got unlucky with who was helping me. But they need to know you cant treat people like this, I've toured many other gyms and never ever have I been treated this way and have someone try to shame me into joining.

I haven’t had my first work out yet, so my rating is solely on my sign up experience alone. I called in on a Sunday in the early afternoon and was immediately greeted by a cheery voice on the other end of the line. I inquired about a family plan that would accommodate my sister, her husband, and me, their live-in nanny. He gave me basic info over the phone and invited me to come in for a tour where we could go over pricing and options once we determine the gym is the right fit. (And with it being within walking distance, how could it not be?) He had no trouble accommodating my spontaneous request for info and fit me in for a tour not 10 minutes after I hung up the phone. The gentleman my sister and I worked with was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable and at ease. I usually feel out of place in gyms as weight has been something I’ve always struggled with, but as I looked around I could see several other people that were also in either the beginning or middle of their body transformations, so I didn’t feel discouraged. The tour was exceptional. I was so surprised that all of this existed so close to my house. A 1/10 mile track upstairs, as well as a women’s only work out area, a fantastic play area for the kids, free classes, and more were more than I could have expected with such an affordable monthly rate. My sister and I, who are usually not quick to make snap decisions and tend to like to mull things over and consider our options, signed up and paid for the membership on the spot. It was like meeting someone and having an instant connection and a friendship you knew would last for years, but with a gym instead of a human. The convenience of being able to bring along my 18 month old niece that I nanny during the week with me for a totally stress free work out is worth any amount of money. But luckily they are well within the typical budget.I am so excited for my first work out!

"Rude and intimidating hispanic manager " when I joined in the middle of January the lady who signed me up said if I cancelled within 14 days they would issue a full refund. But when I did cancel, the Hispanic man said he is the manager of Plano and stated refund was only if 3 personal training sessions were purchased and I daid I needed to pay another month for 30 day notice... and his he tried for an intimidating demeanor for Asian woman and was just plain rude. I am very upset with that man's talking manners.

Been looking for a gym to start working on the six pack that I’ve been wanting for the last 10 years. It is hard to find a good gym with good reviews so after doing a bit of research, I decided to give Texas Family Fitness try because they don’t require yearly commitment and seems to be the most affordable in the Richardson/Plano area. Arrived at the facility and the place looked clean. I was greeted by one of the staff member and was shown around the facility. Here they have all of the equipment you need for a good work out including cardio equipment, free weights and strength machines. They also have fitness classes if that is what you are into and from the staff member description, it seems decent. Just for FYI, their dumbbells goes up to 100 lbs and they only have 2 squat racks so this place may not be for you if you are looking for more free weights. As for their membership, I decided on the standard plan 19.99$/month which is probably the best deal compare to 24hr, LA fitness or others around. With the standard plan, I was suppose to put 29.99$ down but because I also signed up with my wife, I only had to put 10$ down for me and 1$ for my wife with her membership only another 10$ per month which I thought was pretty sweet. Thanks to the staff member, I forgot what her name was, she was very helpful with our memberships. I will give this place a go a little while and will surely update this review if needed.

I was leery of joining this gym due to the abundance of negative reviews. However, I noticed most of them were 1-2 year old. We tried a 1-week guest pass from younger men called Jay (Manager) and we were pleasantly surprised and have …

Great location overall! Prefer it over all the others Gym around because of the space layout with 2 floors. Although staff changes often, they are always the friendliest team members and always willing to help with any situation specially that Manager Jay, he always smiling and happy to help others and the New head Trainer Robert he will help you with your nutrition which others gym can’t do it. he is doing for my friend and lost 30 lbs already. I high recommend.
