The Crunch Fitness gym at First Colony Commons offers an inviting environment with a range of state-of-the-art equipment. Members can enjoy various fitness amenities, including a sauna and hydro massage chairs. The gym operates 24 hours on select days, making it a convenient option for early birds and night owls alike. However, several reviews highlight consistent issues with cleanliness and customer service, indicating room for improvement in these areas. Despite this, many members appreciate the positive atmosphere and overall value provided by their memberships.
If you're considering Crunch Fitness, it's beneficial to visit during non-peak hours for a more pleasant experience, as it can get quite crowded at times. For those who value an extensive selection of equipment and flexible hours, Crunch Fitness could be a good fit, but cleanliness and service issues need to be weighed in your decision.

I scheduled a session but unfortunately I had to cancel it. I call in, the team member tells me that I will be refunded. Then, calls me back to tell me that I cannot get my money back. The manager had the audacity to tell me that they don’t disclose that because it is not a good business practice. If it’s non refundable, you should disclose that it is non refundable. This is a shady business practice.Run from this place and take your money somewhere else!Response: The day I scheduled my session, I asked if I could reschedule it because I was not sure about the time. The manager said: Yes, you can always reschedule it. Nothing was mentioned about a 24 hour notice. How am I supposed to know that you have to reschedule it 24 hours in advance if it is not mentioned in advance?

CRUNCH Fitness is the perfect name for this place because CRUNCH is exactly what will happen to your body parts on the shoddy unmaintained equipment at this gym. For months I had noticed this gym’s downward trajectory as their equipment, which seemed almost brand new at first, quickly began to fall apart. That’s typically what happens to any piece of equipment that is used for 12 hours a day with zero maintenance.Eventually, I had to experience this first-hand the hard way. As I was adjusting one of the benches in the free weight area, I guess the latching mechanism didn’t lock right and the back of the bench came crashing down on my hand, completely crushing it. That’s bad, right? But it gets worse. What was far worse than that was the complete apathy from everyone around me. My hand was totally smashed and crushed so bad that my middle finger had split open from the pressure and was bleeding. Everyone continued working out around me like nothing happened. Didn’t even look in my general direction, much less at me.One staff member saw it happen from a distance and rushed over to me. He took me to the front in search of a first aid kit. I could tell from his kindness and professional demeanor that he was new and, sure enough, it was his second day. After a lot of searching, all he could dig up was some pouches of hand sanitizer, a piece of gauze, and a pouch of antibiotic cream. A gas station would have more first aid, and this was a gym where MAJOR accidents are possible with equipment weighing tons. And when he took me to the front of the gym, not a single staff member even looked at me, much less even asked what happened and why I was hunched over nursing my hand which was wrapped in a paper towel. But that one guy who helped me was a cut above the average human being. A true class act and, to no surprise, a veteran who served our country. I hope good karma reaches him a thousand-fold.So, yes, the equipment at this gym is completely devoid of any maintenance and extremely dangerous. But rusty and broken equipment can be fixed or replaced. But what do you do about people who don’t have the basic human decency to at least look concerned when someone suffers an injury in front of their faces? And do you know what the staff were busy with? Signing up new members. And these are the same staff who won’t even look at you when you come or go from the gym.As they had no proper first aid at the gym, I realized I’d better get out of there and to an ER pretty quick. I thanked the gentleman who assisted me. He insisted that someone would reach out to me to check on me. I laughed inside knowing no such thing would happen. And here we are, weeks later and, to no surprise, no such contact.I got to the ER, got an X-ray of my hand, and the middle finger was shattered. It’s now splinted and I’m probably incapacitated for at least 6-8 weeks now. Bye-bye, gains.I’ve found these conditions consistent at $10/month gyms. They say you get what you pay for. It’s why I left “the other” $10 gym on HWY 6 and joined Crunch, which was actually excellent when it first opened. But the alternative is $100-$200/month at Life Time Fitness or Alphaland? No thanks. I have Rogue equipment in my garage at home.Working out at home doesn’t compare to the atmosphere you get at a gym, but I guess I won’t have that luxury. Home it is for me until I strike it rich. I won’t go cheap again and risk my safety, and neither should you.

If you are a mom make sure and call ahead and ask for their “Kid Zone” rules which are posted on a piece of paper next to the childcare entrance door. I signed up online my first day I go in I let the girl (Amy) at the front desk know she tells me to download an app and continues to talk about her weekend plans with the guy. My first time in the building no one offers to show me around. I ask is there anything I have to do to register my baby, she responds no and to go to the kid zone (didn’t even point to where it was). The next day I come back and sign in. I am carrying an 8 month old baby and a 3 year old. Once I get to the kid zone some white guy with gray hair from the front chases after me and tells me no. I was confused and asked what the problem was. He continued to point at a computer paper, I hadn’t even noticed saying only ages 3 and up. I wasn’t arguing I simply said ok sorry if it’s an issue we can cancel my membership because I didn’t know. I wouldn’t have written this review but then this employee/manager tried getting smart with me telling me “No gym would ever do that” like if I was trying to do something wrong. I told him actually there are gyms I have actually been to them. He proceeded to still try to get smart and asked me to list them. So I did. Lifetime being one of the gyms I took my son as young as 3 months old. He still can’t keep his mouth shut and replied with “oh I guess it’s a Texas thing”. I mean we are in TEXAS! If you are going to promote pregnant women working out at your gym make a clarification that they are on their own after they deliver their baby. Make sure you have it posted online daycare is only for 3 years and up. Walking and potty trained. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU! (As my hot headed friend not from Texas with gray hair at the front desk said)

Ive been going to this gym since it opened, best one I’ve been to in years for the cost, however the cleanliness of the Gym has decreased significantly. It is almost as it is never cleaned. Urinals have dirt built up theres is cockroaches crawling in the showers and the sauna still has mud on the floor, and showere have hair and dirt all over the floor. That is my only reason for the 1 star. S

Gym equipment is solid. However, I have never seen cleanliness of this level at any gym, its honestly impressive how little the bathroom is cleaned. I have been here for a week now, and the stains on the mirror, floor, and walls have not been touched. You can literally find the exact same dust in the same spot 5 days later lol.I have been a long time member of fitness connection on hwy 6 and dynamic fitness on 90, both gyms had custodial staff constantly circling to clean up and maintain the gym. That small change will improve the quality of the gym greatly, and I would bump the review up if its fixed. Most other reviews call out the lack of cleanliness- fixing that issue would be the difference of all the reviewers recommending the gym to a friend.EDIT on 9/29: Sauna has been out for 2 weeks because the door broke lol. Door has not been replaced. Bucket in mens sinks to capture water from what im guessing is a burst water pipe. Whoever is the managing party here needs to step it up, this place could be great if the details were fixed.

It's a great place for the monthly fee. You have a lot of options to work out. The mornings are not as busy and you don't have to wait for the machine you want to use. I've noticed the machines do not get cleaned enough and the pads on the machines are mostly cracked.

The gym itself is great, been a member since it first opened. The last couple months I’ve noticed how dirty it has gotten. Women’s bathroom, disgusting! It used to be so clean, it seems like no one is cleaning any area throughout the gym. I’m really debating on taking my business elsewhere. I hope they find a resolution soon.

Dirty bathrooms, no paper towel in the whole gym trying to cut expenses, if you forget you’re own towel you’re screwed up!!!Some elliptical fans are not working. The machine quality are average, some times it’s so crowded and you have to wait!!!

Maya needs to go. Who wants to go somewhere where the front desk catches attitude when you ask a question? The gym is decent but her attitude is disgusting.
