Worst gym ever, had a bad experience there, they are unprofessional and rude and all they care about its money, they are always changing staff.First when i started they were nice and i even got a personal trainer then my trainer got fired i wanted my money back and they were rude about it and said no so i got another trainer named Diana. She is so unprofessional she acts like she doesnt see you and when you have an appointment with her she is late, i still have sessions there and im willing just to let them have it because i dont want to go back to that bad gym, the last time i had an appointment ywith DianaShe had me wait for like 15 min and she wasnt even nice to say atleast have a seat while i was waiting or something, she was just ignoring me. Will never recomend this gym i heard alot of bad things too and i will make sure of telling people not to go there

This was a premier club until they decided to lower their standards. Cleanliness is an issue, middle of the day locker room is filthy, some machines work and take a long time to get them repaired, the classes keep getting. I went in today to take a cycle class at it scheduled time and no one knew there wasn’t anyone to teach the class WTH. Then a few months ago they get ride of the best instructor they had Rebecca. My lord can some please pass this on to someone who actually cares. But it’s not really going to matter because it’s just down hill from here, just save your money and go to 24, they are are the same now.

Love this gym!!! The equipment is top notch, it's always clean, and I love the stream room. My kids adore the kids club - they beg to go! Only wish it was less crowded.

The lady that helped me I think her name was "Heidy" she told me when I signed up with my girlfriend. "You're gym membership will be $19.99 each month you'll be charged on the 1st of every month. YOU CAN CANCEL WHENEVER YOU WANT." That's cute because when I tired to cancel my membership I was told that I couldn't unless I wanted to be charged for cancellation. Apparently I signed up for a whole year. Don't trust the people here.

I joined Gold’s Gym after moving to Montclair from Seattle. There are several gym options around here. I signed up with Gold’s Gym because it’s in walking distance from my house, they have a lot of cardio equipment and a really nice pool, and I love BodyPump (which they offered at times that were very convenient for me). The facilities are very clean and obviously well maintained. I was also excited about the prospect of working with a personal trainer – I was supposed to get 6 sessions included in my membership package when I signed up. I’m already fairly knowledgeable about diet and exercise, but I could benefit from someone with more expertise who could show me new exercises and keep my on track with my diet. The first thing I learned upon meeting with my personal trainer was that my six personal training sessions were 30 minutes in length, but they only schedule in 1-hour blocks. So, my six training sessions were actually only 3 sessions. Okay, that’s annoying, but fine. The FIRST thing he did was try to sell me hundreds of dollars worth of additional training sessions. I told him I wanted to see how these go first before spending that much money. This was a mistake – he completely lost interest in working with me after that. He ended our session early – we only spent about 20 minutes doing actual training, but he still “charged” me for the full hour. I booked my next session with him, but he then cancelled the night before. I tried to reschedule, and then he simply did not show up for our session and I was not given any advance notice at all. Both times I was still “charged” for these training sessions that never happened. So, my 3 hours of personal training time actually ended up being 20 minutes of working out and an extensive sales pitch.Fast forward a bit. I had to take some time off from my usual exercise routine because of pregnancy/C-section complications, but I kept up my membership because I was super eager to get back into shape once my doctor gave me the all-clear to start working out again. When I’m finally cleared, I check in for the first time and ask for a towel. The woman at the front desk tells me that my membership does not include towel service, and then proceeds to shame me for not checking in for a few months. If I want towel service back, I’ll have to pay an extra fee now. What?! I had been faithfully paying my membership dues the entire time I was out of commission, so I don’t understand why part of my membership would be cancelled. Nobody every mentioned anything about having to pay extra for towel service. I’ve NEVER been part of a gym where towel service wasn’t included. It’s unhygienic and disgusting that they would not provide you with a sweat towel to work out. And the shaming for not showing up? Seriously? Even if I had just fallen off the wagon for a few months, what gives the employees the right to be so judgmental of its members?Okay, I’m willing to look past the absentee personal trainer and bring my own towel because I’m a huge fan of Body Pump. Too bad the instructor rarely shows up on time, and in some cases doesn’t show up at all. The gym should either get a substitute or notify its members that the class is cancelled if the instructor is absent, but they can’t be bothered to do either of those things. Now I start to question what the hell I’m paying membership dues for. I have an infant and am transitioning back to working full time, and those weekend mornings are the only times when I can get childcare to actually make it into the gym. But if the instructor isn’t going to show up to class, when what’s the point? So I go to cancel my membership. The woman at the front desk informs me that there will be a $120-something cancellation fee. And that’s when I decided to post this review everywhere I could think of. Maybe one of the other gyms in the area will be less of a waste of money.

It's quite a large gym with plenty of machines and space to go along with it which is very nice. Plus it's always clean morning or evening when I go. The only drawback is if you leave your padlock on their locker overnight they will cut it off !

Its a nice clean gym. Just too bad it's way too small and over crowded. People tie up the machines for hrs by placing their items on equipment that they aren't even using. A gym that small should be open more hrs. Many times i went there and didn't get to use certain machines. The Gold's gym in Montclair is more of a social gathering than a gym. The hrs and it being too packed was the reason why i cancelled my membership with them.

Great gym with lots of equipment. The staff on the other hand aren’t very helpful . I tried speaking to a manager to have a late fee removed since my card info was stolen and they received my updated card info later than they wanted. They had me on hold for 20 minutes all to tell me I can call back or the manager can call me back. This gym need more reps customer servicing for how much they charge per month

I love this gym, but I canceled my gym membership personally with the main manager , in the end of April ,I was told I would make the last payment for May I check my chase online turns out I'm still getting charged 29.95 !!! Plus the kids club 16.95. Makes me really upset I have to waist my time again calling them back or going in person with my busy schedule! It's really pathetic after going in person to cancel I'm still getting charged .

I just recently had a bad experience with one of their employees. On Black Friday Nov. 23rd, one of their reps by the name of Michael Thomas called me to ask if I was interested in buying a membership. He said it cost $25 a month plus $25 down. I told him I couldn’t because I had to have the Kid’s Club membership for both of my kids and for the cost of both services I was already going to pay a high amount. The Kid’s Club membership is a separate fee and is non-negotiable by the way. He said he could let me have the gym membership for $25 down, $25 the first month, and $20 from the second to the twelfth month (1 year commitment). I accepted over the phone. When I arrived in person, he surprised me by saying that he first had to call his manager to get the approval for the $20 monthly rate. He told me that more than likely I would get it approved because he’s had it approved for other customers before. The contract they gave me was for $25 a month for all 12 months.A few days later on Nov. 27 he calls me and tells me that his manager did NOT approve the $20 monthly rate and that if I wanted to cancel I had to go that same day in person or else they would charge me. I think it was a shady move on his part. I think he knew from the beginning that I wasn’t going to pay $20 a month and he was hoping that I would not be able to show up to cancel the membership and be stuck with a higher rate. He waited to the last day for me to be allowed to cancel and that was wrong. I think Michael Thomas is a liar and very unethical. I believe he uses dirty strategies to make his sales and earn his commission.I confronted and told him in person that he was a liar and a shady individual for doing that. He got upset and told me that he wasn’t going to let anyone call him a liar. I’m not a confrontational person so I didn’t even want to talk to him. I asked him to leave and he refused to leave. I told him a second time to walk away and he said he was not going to walk away. When you work in customer service and you have an upset customer, the last thing you want to do is say or do something that upsets the customer even more. You have to bite the bullet and have the patience to do your best to defuse the situation. He made it worse and that’s very unprofessional. It’s up to your discretion as current or future members of this gym but I suggest not to deal with Michael Thomas and ask to see someone else because I have dealt with other great reps there in the past.I submitted a complaint to their headquarters via email and was told that in approximately 5-7 days someone from the gym was going to reach me to find a resolution. I will provide an update on the details of that conversation.*Update*It's been over 10 days and nobody called me. This shows the level of customer service that management provides.
