Crunch Fitness on 34th Street offers a mixed experience for gym-goers. While some members praise the spacious layout, steam and sauna facilities, and friendly training staff, others highlight significant issues with cleanliness and equipment maintenance. Reviews indicate a wide variety of classes and adequate amenities, but there are complaints about the timeliness of repairs and the handling of guest passes and member issues.
Location convenience is another strong point, yet the gym has faced criticism for overcrowding and rigid policies regarding class attendance. Always had a good experience here. Crunch gym has all the options you want. A little crowded at times, but overall, a great gym.

When I signed up I specifically asked for guest passes for my long distance gf because that was something I had at equinox. I was given 3 physical passes to satisfy this, which influenced my decision to switch. When I tried to use it, they said she had to pay $25 because she was out of state… no duh. I messaged the rep who gave me the passes and their boss and they said there was nothing they could do to refund me.The gym is overall okay, which is the only reason I give 1 star. I find this situation ridiculous and a reflection of the sales staff that works there, just trying to get your money by any means like any other gym.

I would like to express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience I had upon arriving at your gym. Despite updating my credit card information in the gym's application beforehand, I was denied entry by staff member Dianne until I was able to retrieve the physical card and not to mention the way the approach was made by that help desk personnel was inappropriate . This caused inconvenience as I had to contact my credit card company due to fraud protection measures, which required the entire card number that I didn't have with me at that time. It is disheartening to encounter situations where help desk staff provide false information and misuse their position, making the experience unnecessarily difficult for members. Also upon asking several times for the evidence of the statement she mentioned to me she wasn't able to provide me with any substantial evidence for the same . I kindly request clarification on the policy that explicitly states members cannot be admitted without physically retrieving their credit card no matter how far you stay. This situation appears to align with the negative reviews (3.6 rating) on Google for your gym. Furthermore, I recommend implementing regular training for helpdesk staff and managers to ensure accurate assistance and avoid similar incidents in the future. Addressing these concerns will enhance the overall experience for members and foster a positive environment.

the music here is terribly loud and incredibly annoying… i can’t wear headphones and just want to workout with neutral music or rather none than this obnoxious insanely loud playlist. it’s the worst music you could possibly play. Not to mention the sauna is ALWAYS BROKEN…

Outdated, not maintained, dirty, inefficiently layed out, a waste of $The 34th street location and the Upper east side location are the worst gyms I’ve been to in the city. I’ve been a member since 2018 and since Ive joined they haven’t bought new equipment. The machines have to be at least 10 years old not to mention at least 85% are broken with no sign even on them. Even the somewhat newer machines (still at least 6 years old) are broken in ways that are completely unsafe - moving while not turned on, speed is wrong, grips missing. Most people would say then why are you a member? although this one is closer to my apartment, I take the walk to the mid town east crunch daily and only come to 34th street when I have to. The quality of cleanliness, machines and staff is incomparable to the midtown east location. Not to mention everything is filthy dirty, I’ve never seen someone cleaning there but that’s the least of it.This gym is the worst. I cannot wait until TMPL opens. Anything is better then Crunch 34th street

The worst gym ever. Why they so freaking strict for the ClassPass member. They must be getting pay from the classpass when i book a reservation. I late only 4 minutes and then they kicked me out. Other Crunch is not that strict. Gym owner should know about this your employee is ruin your business.

Poor experience today. I booked with ClassPass and arrived at 12:11 when I had up to 12:10 to get to the reservation. There were issues getting there that caused me to be a minute late and I was denied entry despite explaining what happened, that I ran there. I stood there being denied 60 seconds after the cut off. He told me to come back at 1 and be early. I have a life? I can't just come back at 1? This was my one chance to get exercise today. NYC is full of busy people with busy lives, and Crunch doesn't seem to have any understanding of that. The gym was empty, but I was told I was also denied because if they let me in, I could be taking a spot from someone who was waiting. Not to mention, he had me stand aside while he checked in gym members, wasting even more time, and then told me I was late. Don't worry, I gave ClassPass an earful too. No one seems to be human anymore. Oh and the place smells like hot feet. Won't be returning and certainly won't be recommending. To the manager reading this, I see other reviews of similar theme, maybe advise your staff to allow an extra grace period if not just 5 simple minutes and then your Google rating would stop tanking.

Been with crunch for almost a decade. Great gym, good equipment and lots of locations within my city.

I really enjoyed this crunch location! It feels almost like a spa with the ambiance in the locker room—both a sauna and a steam room! Plus they have a solid 3 squat racks and 2 deadlift platforms, very big turf area with cool equipment.
