Crunch Fitness on 34th Street offers a mixed experience for gym-goers. While some members praise the spacious layout, steam and sauna facilities, and friendly training staff, others highlight significant issues with cleanliness and equipment maintenance. Reviews indicate a wide variety of classes and adequate amenities, but there are complaints about the timeliness of repairs and the handling of guest passes and member issues.

Location convenience is another strong point, yet the gym has faced criticism for overcrowding and rigid policies regarding class attendance. Suitable for those valuing facilities and variety, but potential members should be aware of noted operational shortcomings.

Wish I could give 0 stars. I had full intentions to enjoy this gym as I used to have a membership at the Bowery location which I liked. Wanted to try out the gym but was convinced to sign on the spot for a better deal, so I did, thinking 'how bad could it be'.First workout I noticed a horrible smell but chalked it up to someone having bad hygiene. Second and final workout was a few days later. The stench was so bad I had to physically cover my face with a towel in between sets. It was everywhere - locker room, cardio area, machines, etc. To top of it off, all of the equipment is far too close together and I hit my head trying to get in between the window, a pillar and two pieces of equipment. Asked for my money back and offered to pay for a week pass for my 2 days there. They told me I had eclipsed the 3-day window to do so (it was the 4th day), and that there's nothing they could do. Incredibly poor customer service, the "best" they could offer was more access to gyms, which clearly I did not want. AVOID THIS GYM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

I’ve been training with Angel at Crunch on 34th/3rd for sometime now and I’d highly recommend him for any experience level. Really genuinely good guy, knowledgeable about the body, and makes the workout challenging yet light and rewarding.Facilities are solid too, sometimes busy but great environment.

For those here for a Day Pass- be sure to read fine print. Unless you have a New York State ID (which they consider a “local resident”) you will have to pay the $35 fee for a day pass.Regarding facilities- nice gym but crowded. Free weights area is small and machines very tightly setup. Lots of cardio/classes. Reminds me more of a Planet Fitness compared to a weightlifting gym.

AVOID joining this gym at all costs. I promise you will see for yourself how incredibly unprofessional the service is. They will increase your rates because they say it is in their contract that it's subject to change. They offered a guest pass in return and were INCREDIBLY rude to my guest to the point where I was very embarrassed. Anyone who I have spoken to has been very unprofessional including the operation manager. I never post reviews but went out of my way to post this one because I would not want anyone else dealing with this. I have been a member since 9/2020 and given COVID have multiple times given them the benefit of the doubt but the service is getting worse and worse. Old machines, over crowding. Honestly best to probably pay the same price and join a nicer gym. Horrified at my experience here.

I have never worked out at this location, as 59th st. is closest to me, however, I would like to comment on the communication, or lack thereof, from the sales manager after making multiple email requests to speak.I referred two friends back in September 2021 under the notion that there was an incentive for members, and to no avail, the manager assured me that something would come in the mail soon. When nothing did, I emailed him and he began ignoring me. I don't appreciate the poor customer service, especially since I was so excited to refer friends because of how great I think the gym is, but I will no longer be referring friends since this is the treatment that I have received.

Rude and discriminatory. I signed up for a free trial online and since there weren’t any instructions or links in the email I showed up to redeem it. Was told that I had to do a tour (which is fine) but that I had to reserve ahead if I wanted to try the gym (but there was no link or instructions to do this?) ALSO they emphasized that they decide if we get to redeem the free trial after gauging our interest. They were so boastful that they’re a high class exclusive gym (self proclamation doesn’t count, like do they know they’ve only got 3.5 stars on google). Their iPad to sign up didn’t even work. I walked out so disappointed.Front desk staff was so rude. I felt like I was being turned away. take your money elsewhere.

I had a ClassPass from 8-10am. ClassPass allows you to get there 8:10am. I arrived at 8:11am and Kristian (spelling?) wouldn’t let me in. I’ve never seen such inflexibility and customer unfriendliness. I would’ve only been there for 40 minutes, way shorter than my 2 hour reservation. I have a baby at home and unforeseen things occur. I paid $26 for a <40 minute workout. They sure know how to generate new clients. Will never go again and will make sure everyone knows how they treat potential customers.

The gym is overall very clean, with varied equipments and theragun massagers you can use for post-workout (which is fun). Generally this gym has felt approachable to me. People are focused on their own workouts but are generally receptive to borrowing machines after you or inbetween sets (at least in the mornings). Recently, I have started personal training with Darryl and cannot recommend him enough. He is incredibly knowledgeable, positive and challenges you. He took a holistic approach to personal training, taking into account my lifestyle, fitness goals, time and nutrition. He worked with me to build up my fitness and confidence in the gym. Now I have a program that actually fits into my life. Highly recommend.

This is a good gym and convenient location. I was referred to Angel Doss for personal training and I wish I met him sooner. He’s professional, punctual, answered my fitness questions and makes working out more fun. If you’re considering purchasing training sessions, Angel’s your guy.

The gym is really great, as are most Crunch locations in the city. I have tried almost all of them and adore Crunch gyms. At 34th Street The staff are very friendly and will help you out best they can. The Sales team and Operations team are really helpful. The personal trainers are all knowledgeable, that's Crunch's thing - besides being inclusive and making fitness fun - having a particularly well-trained and learned PT staff. I train with two trainers currently here. The Fitness Manager Dimitri is really good at pairing you with a trainer that can help you do everything from recover from injuries to work towards your fitness and weight loss goals.During these times of Covid the gym has been doing a great job of staying safe and clean and within mandated guidelines of 33% capacity so it's not packed, and they have a system in place to keep an eye on the actual number of people in the gym at all times. With these features in place, I can feel safe enough working out. They are great about mask guidelines and make sure people are masked and STAY that way, you can be told to leave if one doesn't abide. That makes me feel much safer as well. Most fellow members are pretty good about it.
