New York Sports Club on 23rd St offers a mixed experience for gym-goers. The staff receives high praise for their friendliness and professionalism, particularly in specialized areas like Pilates with Julie Pandolf. This gym features a variety of classes and newer equipment compared to other locations. However, it faces issues with cleanliness and equipment maintenance, leading to frequent complaints about broken machines and a lack of proper air conditioning. Note that the gym has been converted into an 'elite' location, leading to higher fees and some billing disputes.

Members have reported problems with overcharging and difficulty in cancelling memberships, compromising its customer service reputation. It's a suitable choice for those who prioritize location and specific services, but caution is advised due to its inconsistent management and surprise charges. Always ask for detailed billing and service clarifications before signing up.

Charged me for several months after I told them to cancel my account. Unbelievably bad customer service

Almost half the gym is gone to make room for classes and a private training room that's mostly empty. Not enough equipment, horrible gimmicky layout.

23rd St & Park, the manager Lance is great. The front desk rep Bill is great. Overall good locations.

This is a very basic gym. Full disclosure, I've never been up to the weightlifting room, I only come to use the treadmill. There are a lot of treadmills but none of the TVs connected to them turn on. Many are missing a cup holder for your water bottle, there's just a hole where the cup holder should be. The treadmill area does get crowded in the evening time after work, I've had to wait to get on a machine. If you can come earlier you should. It does tend to get hot in the treadmill area, I wish they would install fans to keep the temp a bit lower. The worst part about this gym is the weekend hours, they close at 5.00PM on Saturday and Sunday which is a huge bummer. The front desk staff is consistently cool and friendly. I will continue to come, just want all to know not to expect anything special.

Getting around this gym is like going through a gauntlet. Whoever decided what machines to remove/replace and placement, probably never worked out before. There really is no logic. Tree racks blocking every throughway, five attention seeking CrossFit racks/stages and 3 wack-a-mole boxing machines. This gym has the most wasted space and useless equipment I have ever seen. Very nice front desk staff. This goes for many NYSCs I been to, most machines are Jerry-rigged to function and the benches have 1 loose screw holding it together.

Cool gym with a friendly staff, the equipment is way newer comparing to other locations, great variety of classes. One star down for the cleanliness - the weights are everywhere and people barely clean machines after themselves. Also I wish they had some fans or air purifiers, the gym gets really smelly and hot (especially after 5 pm)

I went there first time. I like it over there and very comfortable. I wish this club hour was extended.

The “person” with that attitude shouldn’t work as a “salesperson” which is changing people mind NOT to be a member!THAT PLACE MUST TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION AND TAKE CARE OF THAT “LADY”!!!MANAGER, CONTACT ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!There’s NO ANY MANAGER (which is she told me) to talk!!! RIDICULOUS!!!THIS IS JUST INSANE!!!Generally, reviews tell everything about this “place”!!!
