This is my local gym, and o wish they would make both critical and minor fixes to the place. It just always feels dirty, or filled with broken machines. It's a shame. I think the staff is polite, but polite won't clean the mirrors.

unsafe, unsanitary, unmaintainedHere's the email I wrote to the "customer service" address listed on the locker room walls. It was not answered, though this shouldn't be a surprise, considering the quality of the facility:The majority of people in NY go to a gym based simply on the fact that it's convenient to where they live. When I moved a few blocks east last year, I switched from the Planet Fitness up on Broadway to this NYSC. As the monthly fee is more than 3 times what Planet Fitness charges, I expected that the quality would also be somewhat higher. Instead, the opposite has been the case. This gym is unmaintained, unsafe, and unsanitary.unmaintained: roughly 30% of the lockers in men's room are non-functioning. Some are completely off the hinges, and some are missing doors entirely. I train on the first floor and upstairs, and on both levels, multiple machines are either missing the hand grips, missing the weight pins, or just out of order, Right now, there are 3 ellipticals in a row on the second floor which are all unusable. One doesn't turn on and the other two don't change the degree of incline. The televisions don't work on the majority of the ellipticals (I don't know about the treadmills, because I only train on the ellipticals, but I assume it is not much better). The stairs leading up to the second floor regularly have visible piles of dust on them.Additionally, the second floor has been extremely hot for around 2 months now. There were signs put up that this would be "rectified" soon, but gradually the signs just disappeared, and nothing has been done. It is easily 80 degrees up there, and I wonder if it will be completely unbearable when the weather gets hotter. Also, one shower in the men's room is non-functional because it's had no handle since early this year, and another has a drain which does not clear, so after a few minutes you are standing in inches of sewer water.unsafe: I have had money taken from a locker TWICE. Both times, I had a functioning lock on the locker. The first time, I lost $100, and after that, I haven't really left much cash in the locker. A few weeks ago, though, I did have about $5 in singles in a jeans pocket, and they were gone when I returned after training. I reported the first incident to the worker at the front desk; she basically just shrugged. Having a sign saying the gym isn't responsible for lost material may be legally all that is required to absolve you of responsibility, but it certainly seems like a neglecting of a pretty basic element of the customer/provider relationship. I have also seen two other people in the locker room talking to staff members in the aftermath of finding out that they had had something taken from their lockers.unsanitary: Besides the shower that backs up, the locker room regularly has overflowing towel bins, towels left on the floor, and unclean showers. Surely some of this falls on the users - I've trained at a dozen gyms around the world and I've never seen a gym where users cared less about keeping things clean. But it is also at least somewhat the responsibility of the workers to be more diligent in cleaning and promoting an environment where people realize they can't just leave dirty towels pretty much everywhere. Tonight I finally decided to write, because I actually saw human excrement in a shower stall. I would have taken a photo, but I didn't have my phone with me in the showers.

Where should i start ? Very poor manage. Upper management clearly doesnt care about the location nor does the staff. Dust bunnies are not bunnies anymore they turned into elephant and dinosaurs!! Equipment is always broken and takes months to get fixed. If you are a serious lifter this place and a hotel Gym is the same. Gym is missing some essential equipments. On any given day their might not be any towels available or hot water. The studio smells like pure feet clearly haven’t been clean in a long time. Also MUST be careful because they have a tendency of over charging customers regarless of the agreement contract signed.Overall- place is filthy, rude staff, the porters think they are managers, most of the customers are very rude themself, over priced for the service, cleaness, maintenances of equipment, plus they just breach your contract!Very sad the neighborhood doesn’t have any other near gyms. Which is why they treat and act the way they do. STAY AWAY!!!

NEVER GO HERE!!! Beware!!I wish I have read reviews on this place before going here... besides being not really clean gym itself and constant situation with some machines being broken for weeks, you never can cancel this membership!!Like for real, it’s a SCAM!So, first, if you ever decide to cancel your membership, you literally have to plan it 2 months upfront, because apparently they have to process cancellation for 45 days , which makes you pay for another month any case.Second, you have to come in person (no email, no phone call) to state that you want to cancel. But then, only manager can process this cancellation. Guess what? That “manager” (does he/she even exist?) is always on some “meeting” or whatever and never is available! So, stuff is promising to leave a note or something for him(her?). Guess what again? That never happens. They don’t give you any paper or receipt saying you cancelling your membership. They promised me an email as a confirmation- never got anything. So have to go there again and again and not sure even 45 days would be enough for them to cancel the damn thing! Like, how hard it is?? 45 days???They might give you customer support phone number that doesn’t work. And that’s it, stuff just playing dumb, looking at you and keep repeating the same BS and never do anything...oh, yeah, and I heard one of them calling me a bitch at my back when I was already leaving.. damn, never expected to face such low level of customer service in nyc in 2019..

DO NOT COME HERE, BEWARE SCAMMERS WORK HERE. I called and canceled over 6 months ago, yet I'm still being billed. Kelly the manager can't control her staff and is very rude. When I called they explained to me that they would take care of it and left a note. Yet here I am in this situation with them months later. I stopped using the facility after my mom passed away. The staff here do not know anything about customer service and act like trash. They are very lazy and don't want to work, this gym is always dirty and no one is ever cleaning. They will lie to you at all costs to get your money. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION OR ELSE THEY WILL NEVER STOP CHARGING YOU. Be careful with this company and gym they are very sneaky. Find somewhere else to work out this place isn't worth it.

I’m not going to write anything new.The gym smells, dirty towels, an average 30% of the equipment is out of service, the staff is extremely unprofessional, rude and unwelcoming.Do you want to cancel? Well get ready for a long stressful fight, disputes and collection letters I was even threatened by one staff member, Kelley smith the manager even hang up the phone.I wish they could put so much effort on fixing the place, that gym would be shining.I’m not sure how serious fitness brand like NYSC can let these people to run their business and “promote “ their name

I'm a regular at this fitness club. It's usually clean and not too packed but like any other gym it can get hectic during high traffic times. The staff are friendly and I enjoy my workouts.

There isn't much to leave one dissatisfied. The gym has a decent amount of space, machines, free weights, a sauna and even a designated crossfit area. There is also a decent selection of classes as well. Like other gyms, it gets pretty busy at times, so plan accordingly to ensure you get your workout on.

This place couldn’t get any worse if it tried. Half if that of the machines work. Instructors are constantly late to work / class I mean ALL THE TIME . Bodypump is always over filled because they don’t verify who actually signed up. When you schedule in a session and an instructor waltzes in 20 mins late it throws off your whole schedule and you end up with half the work out you planned. They never clean or fix machines. I only ever see a guy constantly vacuuming and that’s it. Most of the weight machines are missing pins or need oiling. Although this is the closest gym I’m strongly considering joining another one all together. It’s so disappointing that the management here won’t fix these issues. People have been complaining for over a year!!! Deplorable service overall. We deserve a better gym and better management for the price we are paying. This place need a rehab ASAP.

This gym is usually crowded, people tend to hoard weights and machines. The locker rooms need to be monitored more frequently for cleanliness. The staff is friendly though and the trainers seem to care about what they're doing. I hear people complaining about how they never have towels here, but I've never experienced that. I work out about 3 or 4 times a week.
