The whole reason joined was for Kevin and the run club to be honest. The gym has a lot to offer as well and will get more use in tge winter. My only complaint, so could use fans pointing towards cardio equipment and not just at the weights

Decent club. Enough free weights and dumbells for anyone. 2 full cages with bumper plates. Large selectorized area. Small track that goes around the weight area which is ringed by cardio equipment. Large clean co-ed sauna. Locker room is a bit dated but mostly clean. Things they have I did not use. ...pool, hot tub (co-ed) , gx studio, racquetball courts and tennis courts. The desk staff in the early morning is pretty friendly. My only complaint has nothing to do with the business. ..just the patrons. It seemed on each of my visits, I was the only person I saw wiping down equipment. There are plenty of stations with spray and towels. It just seems this common courtesy is not common practice.

I love all the yoga classes, the willpower and grace class, the centergy class I take. The instructors are informative and helpful. The people are friendly and accomodating. There are a variety of classes offered, lots of equipment to choose from, the track for walking/running, the restrooms are clean and well-maintained. Some issues with the temperature in the exercise room.... gets too hot sometimes and uncomfortable to work out in.

Complaint filed with BBB. Please support another gym or fitness center. Do not do business with Golds Gym. Poor management, poor customer service, poor place to give your hard earned cash to. Plenty of other gyms in the greater Syracuse area who will be happy to have you as a customer.

Facilities are excellent, only problem is with the locker room. Like most American gyms, they have carpet flooring. It smells bad in there, especially since a lot of people that were just in the pool are soaking wet and go in there to change

Very poor management. If the management goes out of town, they say you can't cancel your membership until the manager gets back and then you can get charged for another month. They don't clearly notify you when you change your trainer which makes it difficult to make membership decisions. For $360 a month training fees plus membership dues, you would think the management would be more professional. Poorly temperature controlled. Can sometimes smell the chlorine from the pool.

Roger Markell, Master Trainer is the Best !At 47 years old and 250 pounds, impulse led me to Roger Markell, the trainer for my weight loss challenge team. I had no explicit goals. I just wanted to lose some weight. Even though I had a skinny past, that past was never fit and as I sat more, worked longer hours, fasted all day so I could eat a big dinner with my family, my only exercise a daily walk with my dog - the weight packed on.6 weeks into my weight loss challenge, I lost about 30 pounds and began to realize what I might be able to do if I committed to a true lifestyle change. At that time I began to work with Roger Markell twice a week. The results have amazed me. In 6 months, I lost over 90 pounds with more than 30 inches gone from various body parts. From huffing and puffing up a flight of stairs, I now walk up multiple flights without losing my breadth. I can push more than my weight with my legs, do 10+ 'guy' push-ups, jog around that track without getting a stich in my side, and am valiantly working to do pull ups! When I started, everything hurt: my knees, hips, back, etc. I was taking Tylenol to help reduce the ache to sleep. Now, I still ache but it is muscle ache and I don't need assistance to sleep.Roger helped me to eat more nutritiously, providing real examples of how to eat those 6 meals through a jam packed work day. Always concerned about my health and well-being, he works to maximize my work out benefit while keeping me injury free. Roger helps me to stay accountable to myself. When the sweat drips into my eyes and puddles on the track, Roger's humor cheers me on. His confidence that I can accomplish what he asks gives me the confidence I need to keep going.I've now been with Roger for 2 years. I have a maintained my weight loss and fitness. As a team, we worked to get my body fit. As a team, we work to keep my body fit.

I have never considered myself a gym person; I'd much rather be outside - running, cycling or playing soccer - anything but lifting weights or using a treadmill. But work schedules and weather weren't always so accommodating to those types of workouts. So when I was offered a gym membership to Gold's I decided to try it. For a while I would swim or run once or twice a week - venturing outside more often than not.But two years ago I decided to adopt the sport of triathlon. And in order to train I was encouraged to add weight training to my weekly schedule. Because I don't like lifting weights I knew I wouldn't do it by myself. I was then introduced to Roger Markell, and participated in a cardio-strength training session. My feelings toward weight training changed immensely as a result of that first session.I know how to push myself pretty hard while running and riding, but the effort and energy I expended during my cardio sessions with Roger was at a whole different level. After a handful of sessions (and a lot of muscle soreness) I began looking forward to my weekly weight training sessions. But it was't just the workout itself that lead to my enjoyment. Roger made the sessions interesting, and tailored them to my athletic pursuits. He was always very conscious of me and my overall training. He made sure my form was right, to insure I didn't get injured in the process. Roger was always very professional but also personable. On days when I was in the gym to swim in the pool or run on the treadmill he would always say hi and ask how I was doing.I still would prefer the great outdoors to the confines of a gym. But because of Roger's dedication to helping me improve as an athlete, my appreciation for weight training - and the gym as a whole - has vastly changed. Thanks Roger, and Gold's Gym Dewitt!
